Advice on insulating north facing box room

Hi, we had the same problem with a box room. In the end I stripped off the plaster dot and dabbed it with 25mm (insulation + board) insulated board;. Whilst it is not very thick it has done the job. It has improved the warmth in the room. On removing the plaster I found that an air brick...

Candy GC1682D2 Washing Machine Motor Issue (Solution!!)

Hi, I had a problem with the above machine but lots of Hoover machines are similar. It would not start the cycle and cane up with E08 error code. I found this relates to the motor and is usually to do with the carbon brushes on the motor. I found this site which shows how to change them (quite...

Damp - Victorian Semi. could several layers of exterior paint be an issue?

Hi ydrol, if the mold is black it is more than probable that it is due to condensation. The lack of ventilation causes this and although you may have trickle vents in the widows they are not always that effective. You should also check that your air bricks have not been blocked up (I found...

Clearly the builder will have to meet building regs and the inspector is the best person to give you information. However, the steels will need to sit fully...

Installing new Honeywell AG6 bell box on Optimal XM6 panel

Hey Sparkymarka. Thanks for your help but I have given up on it. I decided the time and effort wasn't worth it as a new panel is only around £40 and the Optima panel is an old one anyway so I've bought a new Veritas8. I have connected it all up and it seems to be working OK - a few minor...

Installing new Honeywell AG6 bell box on Optimal XM6 panel

No, as far as I can see the resistor is not burnt - is your line of thinking that it is a power surge when the main power feed is switched on and therefore it is blowing the internal fuse?

Installing new Honeywell AG6 bell box on Optimal XM6 panel

Hi, getting frustrated!!! I've been trying to replace the bell box with a new Honeywell AG6 bell box. I have managed to get it connected up and it works fine when the battery in the panel is connected. However, when I apply mains power it gives off a continuous beeping sound (I think this is...
