Hotpoint Tumble Drier Error F02 - how to repair?

thanks for the response. I didn’t test the element - I didn’t learn this was a thing until afterwards. This is what happened before I attempted to “fix” it... Other Half out a cycle on. Went back to check on it and the programme had paused because the chamber was full of water. Emptied...

Hotpoint Tumble Drier Error F02 - how to repair?

Hi, We're currently quarantined until Tuesday and the tumble drier has gone kaput. The model is Hotpoint TCEL 87b. The other half grabbed me on Monday and said that the drier was not heating. I've tested the thermostats and thermistor and these appear to be fine. I put the tumble drier back...

A dim(mer) question about light switches

Can anyone help with this? I’ve had a right grilling, answered all the questions, and am still none the wiser  :ROFLMAO: My question - Can I replace the upstairs light switch with a single dimmer?

A dim(mer) question about light switches

The downstairs light switch is fairly redundant as we have a lamp that we use in preference to the hall light. The switch is buried behind coats. So the upstairs light will only really ever get used upstairs. The switch is a Fairway dimmer switch 1 gang 2 way 400w. I'm hoping I can cap off...

Thank you EFLImpudence for the comprehensive reply. Already got that thanks :D I purchased a 1 gang 2 way 400w dimmer switch before I realised it was a two-way circuit. Will do, thank you. Already done. I took that picture before the fix mentioned in the OP. There are green/yellow...

Any ideas what’s caused this roof discolouration?

Hi, I’ve just viewed a house a couple of times, put an offer in, had it accepted. While daydreaming over the photos last night, i’ve just spotted something that i’ve not noticed before There is a loft conversion with 2x Velux skylights. In a pic of the rear of the building there is...

How should I drain this badboy?

Hello, I moved into this property just over 2 years ago. At the end of the garden is a double garage. I've got plans to convert them into a summerhouse type thing, but first of all I need to address a problem with the area at the front of the garages. As you can see in the pics, across the...

    Could you lift this?

Thanks everyone. So I removed the bricks, scooched it along in one direction as far as I could, and then shoved one end off. The rest did itself. I think it's a bit heavier than 75kg, but it's hard to tell as it's cumbersome. When I was 17 I used to stack 50kg+ tubs of paint above my head no...

    Could you lift this?

Hi, My garden currently contains a brick arch, that's i'd like to remove. Supporting the top of the arch is a steel beam. I'm trying to establish how heavy that beam is so that's i can make some kind of plan to shift it. I've done some exploratory brick removal today, pics attached. The...

My loft. Is this normal? And should I worry about this?

Hi, Just starting work on clearing the attic and insulating, as currently it's an absolute mess. The picture of the floor - is that normal? Is it plaster? The picture of the split beam? Is that another job that needs doing? Thanks Ben

Adding more sockets to the garage. Where to begin?

*I made a mistake earlier in the thread - the switch fuse is ahead of the lights rather than the sockets.

Adding more sockets to the garage. Where to begin?

Hi, yes it's B16. So I looks like I need an electrician to do the following Upgrade from 16amp to 20amp (confirming that the cable running from house to garage is sufficient) Confirm if the garage supply is RCD, else swap it to RCD ...and only then can we really discuss next steps? Thanks Ben

Adding more sockets to the garage. Where to begin?

4th one from the right is marked "garage supply" - as far as I know, this is the source. I suspect that only the freezer is RCD protected at the moment, as someone has gone to the bother of labeling that socket where no others are labeled.

Adding more sockets to the garage. Where to begin?

Hi, 3 pictures attached... 1. The consumer unit - the socket that the freezer plugs into has a sticker on it stating that it has RCD - I guess this is the fuse tagged Freezer Socket. I actually have the fridge plugged into it. Ever the rebel. 2. Cabling I spotted yesterday. I guess there must...
