Baxi Duotec 40 HE - Tearing my hair out

At the time there was a lot of speculation about the gas being messed about with. I wasn't there so naturally can't comment.

I won't be touching gas stuff ever - believe that or not, it doesn't matter. I work with the bloke that lost his dad and wife in this explosion. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2327039/Newark-blast-Was-fatal-explosion-caused-father-trying-fit-new-central-heating.html

Was she fit ? My missus thought so ;-)

Plumber no 2 asked me to get it from his supplier cos he couldn't travel the 40 miles, yet would fit it when I got back. I could have got it off ebay for a quid cheaper i suppose, and wait 4 more days. I don't object to spending money - I object to getting ripped off and fleeced by so called...

Absolutely bang on advice - I wished that had come about 7 pages ago. And also the lady who fixed it told me she didn't do installs. She can't lift he boilers on her own. She loves fixing them though ans has been doing just that for ten years self employed after being employed for ten years...

Great advice, I did indeed look on youtube, google, lots of websites and even the Baxi one that gives a lovely video of what to do if you get error 133. ,Reset it a few times and call in someone else who doesn't have a clue ( 2 x RGI's) but should, yet you get fleeced for nearly 300 quid...

Are you saying don't call a gas safe fitter unless they do that... there will be a lot of RGI's on here without work. 2/3rd of them haven't a clue - clearly. Nice idea though.

A very valid question - I conclude it's because most RGI's dont have a clue how to fix boilers.

Interestingly, the correct answer was given quite early on, yet according to the forum rules about not giving out gas parts and advice , and therefore not understanding it was the correct part because I am not a gas safe genius, clearly like yourself no doubt, I was unaware I had been told the...

I completely agree. Sadly some folks only understand vulgarities, to realise how insignificant their comments actually are. She's a clever little gem - plenty of work coming her way.

So a final update from me. This lady was not a plumber. She reliably informs me she is a Heating and Gas engineer, and a bloody good one from what i've just seen. She knew all the settings for the boiler off by heart ( and then confirmed them ) and informed me the gas valve wasn't the issue (...

I would have loved an instant fix - sadly the RGI's that came here and took my money weren't able to facilitate that. What does that say about the industry as a whole.

"i don't think you have not given full details of whats gone on" I don't actually know what that means. maybe punctuation would help? I'm not surprised you are struggling to believe it at all. Two have been bad. The third one is here now.

Would lead to DIY gas works. No it wouldn't in this case, and thats a fact - I know that, you can only guess ( and wrongly ) Chosen trusted, reliable etc etc - more by luck than judgement, clearly. And had any of them asked for help on here, I am sure they wouldn't have called most of you lot.

Well, having asked nicely repeatedly for advice and assistance and being answered by morons with personality disorders ( apart from about 3 respondents) it seems no one is either able, willing or capable of offering advice. I would wonder how you stay in business, but the public are gullible...

Its surprisingly therapeutic. A weight has been lifted off my shoulders, as if the strain of dealing with incompetents has just drained away. I thought I worked with extremely challenging people. How wrong was I.

Thank You. It was a tad cryptic, but you were right. ( I hope - I am waiting for plumber 3 now ) I wonder if i've been banned before I post this...

A wind up? Sounds like you've been using gas and air. So a gas safe idiot plumber tells you " he should turn it off, because of the Carbon monoxide levels are way too high " then leaves it running and goes on his merry way likely putting someone elses family at risk as well - so I turn it off...
