 I must be careful and averagely competent, then. All up and running. Thanks again for input - I'll be back! (Next time I have a problem) Rod

Hot water not calling for heat

Thanks Dave and Softus, :) The programmer is calling the cylinder stat and the cylinder stat is giving power to the brown ZV live - nothing happens. When I operate the ZV micro-switch manually pump comes on and boiler fires up. Is this likely to the motorised bit or the whole head that...

Hot water not calling for heat

I discovered that my water wasn't heating when I took a shower and froze. Not a huge problem a.t.m. as I can use the immersion. Boiler fires up fine when CH prog selected. I thought it would be a zone valve, confirmed in FAQ, but I've got 2 (Honeywell V4043H1056) - 1 close to the h/w...

    connecting a generator

My mistake, it is diesel not 2T. It's actually like this, but in some kind of closed cabinet. It's not pull start though, it has a wheel with a hundred hamsters in which just run round to rotate the crankshaft - you do have to use a valve lifter otherwise they'd never manage to...

    Clock for Economy 7 meter

I've got a digital Economy 7 meter - upper reading = low units, lower reading = normal units. Theres's an old fashioned-looking timer fitted next to and wired into it, which has on-off tabs on it. It is not working and stopped a about 7am. Does this mean all my units will be day-rate or...

Thanks for your advice. I'm a pillock for having bought the tiles already, aren't I? Live and learn. Sadgrandad

    Another chipboard t&g query

Due to seepage from an undetected long-term leak (under vinyl floor covering), a big chunk of my t&g chipboard floor has disintegrated. When I started to rip it up, I discovered that there is polystyrene underneath which is covered by a clear plastic membrane, so I take it this all sits on...
