Gas meter constantly making slow clicking sound. Also funny smell..

Great, thanks for the info guys. My partners dad is a retired electrician so I can relay the info to him and he can check it. The smell doesn't smell like gas so I will assume it is electrics. gass112 haha yeah I never thought of it that way ;)

Gas meter constantly making slow clicking sound. Also funny smell..

@Madrab Yes it is registering usage. My current supplier is EON. Would they be responsible for the gas meter if it needed checking up? Also the gas meter is 44 years old, so not sure if that should be changed anyway. Though back then it says it is owned by British Gas, though not sure if it is...

Gas meter constantly making slow clicking sound. Also funny smell..

Hi all, I have a really old gas meter, from around 1979 (as it says on the front) it is situated in my cupboard with electricity meter. I couldn't get it changed for a smart meter because the way it is fitted. Anyway, the past week there has been a funny smell in the cupboard, like a fishy...

    Lights not dimming?

Thanks for the replies guys. ericmark, some great info there, thansk for taking the time to explain how this all works. I'm still processing it all though good to get a knowhow on these things :) So is there a certain type of dimmer switch I should try that would likely be compatible with LED...

    Lights not dimming?

I think when I bought it the bulbs were included (not sure which type) and dimmed fine. Then I replaced with halogen and they didn't dim. So do you suspect the actual switch? Are there some older switches that are not led compatible? That would explain it.

    Lights not dimming?

Hey all, just bought 4 pricey LED GU10 dimmable bulbs. Installed them in the kitchen light and whilst they are nice and bright they aren't dimming. Could this be an issue with the dimmer switch? Possibly not being compatible with LED? Or the actual spotlight bar itself? Here are the specs for...

    Low pressure issues with shower?

hey Terry, I didn't get round to this as there are shower bar attachments fixed to the pipes so wanted to rule out any issues with the shower before removing those. Though I think the water pressure is fine as I attached the hand held shower hose end directly to the mixer bar top outlet and the...

    Low pressure issues with shower?

Quick update on this. So as terry suggested the filters on the connecting water pipe fittings were clogged with limescale (I live in a very hard water area) and rust. So changed them out with new ones, though pressure was still low. I figured it was the diverter valve that as the lever is really...

    Low pressure issues with shower?

Good point. I'll see about doing a test with just copper pipe and then measure again once the shower is assembled so the flow out of the riser bar without the shower head attached. I do have a video of the water coming out of the riser bar without the showerhead and it looks quite slow. I'll see...

    Low pressure issues with shower?

Thanks Terry, yes the boiler had a full service last week and all seemed good. I'll check the pipe filters when the new mixer bar arrives tomorrow. I'm really hoping that a new thermostatic cartidge inside will fix the issues. Though still not sure if that controls the flow rate.

    Low pressure issues with shower?

Hey Terry, great thanks for the advice I'll try this out, should be easy enough to fit a temp isolation to check the flow. Yes this is coming from a combi boiler. When the shower pipes were installed and I fitted the shower the water was flowing out good so not sure if over time limescale has...

    Low pressure issues with shower?

Hi Terry, thanks for the advice, that is a good point. So do you mean removing the mixer bar and testing the actual hot and cold feed pipes? I will try that thanks. Is there a way to read if the pressure is low when the water is flowing out the pipes?

    Low pressure issues with shower?

Hey guys, I have a riser shower same as in this image. Lately the pressure has been pretty weak. Also the temperature is really up and down going from cold to very hot and back and fourth. I have ordered a replacement mixer bar that I hope will at least fix the temperature setting, though is it...

Dowsil 785 or CT1 white silicone?

Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone can let me know if the 785 has a gloss finish? I cant recall if it was the CT1 white silicone I used for my bathroom or the 785 white silicone. I'm after the glossy finish rather than dull. Or do they both have a glossy finish? Thanks

Slight gap between sink hole cover ok?

Madrab, that is correct. Yeah no leaking. Seams like the b&Q plumbshare isn't too great as my old sink it fit flush perfectly. My only concern is mold developing in the silicone as water sits in the gap. Though everything seems watertight for now.

Slight gap between sink hole cover ok?

Hey all, my sink hole cover to the waste doesn't sit flush to the sink hole and there is a slight gap. There is a foam ring as well as silicone underneath to stop any leaks though still a slight gap if you can see. Is this ok to leave or would you recommend more silicone?

Can bonding plaster dry underneath carpet and underlay?

It will more than likely break or crack though doubt it will crumble to dust as the gaps are small and the carpet is thick. Also the area isn't trampled on very much. The area is also near the radiator. I'm assuming the moisture would either go to the wood or eventualy travel into the underlay...

Can bonding plaster dry underneath carpet and underlay?

Hi all, had some small chunks and warped dipping sides in some of my floorboards. I used some left over bonding plaster to even out the dips and fill gaps. I dried it with the hair dryer though still a bit damp to the touch. I need to put the underlay and carpet on the floor now though will the...
