    Adding inhibitor to a central

Thanks, was worried about mixing inhibitors and causing issues! Any recommendations for the best inhibitor?

    Adding inhibitor to a central

Hi, My radiators have recently been almost fully drained - I think there was probably some water left in the lowest rads. Is it safe to go ahead and add new inhibitor (I'm not sure what was already in there), or should I redrain it from the lowest point? Thanks Daven

Linking hood extractor to inline fan

Thanks for the replies, i can't duct separately due to space, the runs would have to overlap. I don't think this is multi point extraction, the kitchen will have a good with a fan, it will just into a duct with an inline fan that serves the bathroom. It isn't one fan sucking from many rooms...

Linking hood extractor to inline fan

Hi all, I have to have a fairly long duct run for my kitchen extractor hood and the bathroom extractor will also join onto this run. To avoid smells getting into the bathroom, and to ensure the kitchen extractor works well, I was considering putting an inline fan after the join and wiring it to...

    Led spotlights

Thanks all, my main concerns were with the GU10 units catching fire.... I'll do a bit more research but won't limit myself to the integrated units. I may have to buy a few different units to try them out (or find a shop in London where I can see them!).

    Led spotlights

Hi, I am having some renovation work done and I'd like to install some led spotlights in the kitchen and bathroom, I've read that the gu10 led bulbs get very hot and I'd like to avoid that. So I was wondering if you can recommend me some recessed led spotlights. Thanks

    Do I need a pump?

Thanks, maybe something like this http://www.showerpowerbooster.co.uk/product/pressurise-both-hot-and-cold-sp22s-two-fully-automatic-shower-power-booster-sp2b-plus-sp2bu-3-year-warranty/ for the upstairs shower and just leave the downstairs to be gravity fed?

    Do I need a pump?

Ah sorry, upstairs shower around 0.1/0.15 bar, downstairs around 0.4/0.5 bar. Thanks :-)

    Do I need a pump?

Hi all, I'm installing an open vented system for my hot water (bad mains pressure rules out an unvented system) and I'm wondering if I can get away without a pump. I'm going to have 2 bathrooms run off the tank and the showers are rated for 0.1 bar. I figured if i have a 28mm pipe from the tank...

Vapour barrier underlay over insulated wooden subfloor

Hi all, I've seen a few threads on here which do not recommend using a vapour barrier underlay with a ground floor wooden subfloor due to condensation being trapped and damaging the subfloor. I was wondering if this advice still holds if the wooden subfloor is suspended and insulated? I ask...

    Mapping drains

Thanks Tony, now you mention the location I think I noticed the rodding eye. I'll have a word with some contractors and get this mapped out! Cheers

Thanks Hugh. I'll give a few companies a call and see what they can offer. Thanks for us suggestions, Daven

    Mapping drains

So there aren't any manholes in the garden (except for my inspection chamber). I believe (and this is what Thames Water thinks too) that the sewer runs like this: ----------------- | ________x____ | my house | Where "x" is the inspection chamber just off the back wall of my...

    Mapping drains

Thanks. Unfortunately from googling interceptor traps, I think this is what I have :( does that mean mapping cannot be done? All I need really is to find out where the main sewer runs across my garden - I'd guess shoving a rod down there until it hits the sewer pipe would do - but I don't want...

    Mapping drains

Hi all, Wasn't sure if this should go here or in building, but it is here now! I want to build over an inspection chamber but that means moving it. Now Thames Water don't have accurate maps of the main sewer which runs somewhere in my garden! So before I get build over permission I want to...

Vented system, cold water tank questions

Wow thanks for all the detail. I plan on aiming for around 12l per minute flow so that is where I got the tank sizes in my original post from. Your replies have been really helpful, I feel much more prepared to go into a discussion with a plumber. Many thanks Daven

Vented system, cold water tank questions

Thanks, I will be having two separate pumps I think (at least that is the plan at the moment!). What considerations are there? Thanks Daven

    A combi-shower

I have a 24kw combi and (when the mains is good) the shower is fine. I use one of those water saving shower heads, and it can be a very decent pressure shower. Definitely better than any electric shower I've tried.

Vented system, cold water tank questions

I haven't had the mains checked although I do know it is a 15mm pipe rather than a 22mm. Personally I prefer a vented solution to an unvented due to reliability of mains flow, complexity and maintenance. Thanks for the comprehensive response, I think that given what you've both said, the best...
