Offset in virtical soil stsack between floors?

Ok, so my questions is either “can I use an offset in soil stack between floors” or “anybody know how I can easily get closer to the soil stack without coming in from the rear”? So, My house is a Victorian with only one toilet in the upstairs bathroom. To renovate the bathroom I took the...

Trusteel 60's detached house, is a steel build all that bad?

Hi, Lots of questions and I can only answer as an owner and maybe somebody that has done a fair degree of renovation. I can only describe how mine is built as there are variations on a theme. I’ve even got the original trusteel drawing for mine. Mine is a detached house and that doesn’t have...

Bath/Basin waste correct route - outside or in?

Thanks folks, especially to ditalio for the superb picture. I did say you could call me a muppet .. but not sure about *ick :cautious: Now my wife thinks that diy.com is a porn site :D. Now way that is accidental .. I missed F1 .. was it that bad ;) ? That's not an AAV you see just a...

Bath/Basin waste correct route - outside or in?

Um, I've hit a snag .. well an over sight .. or cock up .. all same result anyway  Inside is fine and couldn't place the holes anywhere other than where I did. I'd hopped I'd just run the 40mm pipe straight into stack .. only I'd clean forgot about the 200mm Zone WC input. So ensuring I...

Bath/Basin waste correct route - outside or in?

Thanks Nige F, no I can't flip the bath .. else the wife would flip  Blup, Hugh, thanks .. I was able to keep a 50mm seal trap (and stay with regs) and was able to drop it a little on a 25mm extender so the pipe now runs central under bath (can slide a 1 mm spacer under the trap .. phew)...

Bath/Basin waste correct route - outside or in?

Can you please help me with correct and least problematic pipe runs for bath and basin waste. Two options me thinks. So, issues are that I’m trying to avoid putting a hole in floorboards to sing a trap. Using a 50mm seal, the outlet can’t sling under the centre length of bath as pipe is...

New porch and proximity of door to corner.

OK, I know the thread is old. However I did ask for advice and that was gratefully received. I thought I’d post a pic of the final result. Very happy with it all .. just need to sort the garden a bit. Thanks folks

    Steel House Construction?

Ha ha, actually not bad .. seems no worse than anywhere else. Faraday cage, maybe the steel isn't grounded, maybe I need to run a 10mm from fuse box. Hang on, maybe I shouldn't be in the house during a lightning storm .. decision decisions.

Adding solar inserts to roof of a hot conservatory - a makeover.

Definitely cooler. No idea by how much but with the recent heat we have had is almost bearable without windows open. Now we can open Doors and sit in there. No idea if there are better ways (without new roof) but it seems to work for me. What I did notice though was as I was working the...

    Steel House Construction?

Well Woody, seems that one is in needs of some paint .. and doors .. and windows .. and a wall needs more than a bit of TLC I thought it was Trusteel too, I'd counted the bricks between window and door for the sanction spacing. Looks like a TruSteel MK2 too (?) with steel in the Gable ends...

removable access pan for hidden cistern?

Hi Smileysmile, The panels were a cut to fit, well actually it’s actually a custom cabinet. The lid is one of those man made resins, not sure what one it is as our neighbour owns a stonemasons yard so we just picked some off cuts for cutting down. The top could come out but not planned to but...

New porch and proximity of door to corner.

Thanks Woody, I guess the window/door frame can also be fixed up into the lintel above. Will ensure the roofer allows for strapping down to wall and any other fixings imaginable. Regards.

    Steel House Construction?

Hi, I have a steel framed house too and happy. There are many different types too. The idea of steel frames (and variants) was a post war thing and where pre-fab comes from. They were quick to put up as we were short on skill labour. Unfortunately the slabs of concrete type with...

removable access pan for hidden cistern?

Hi, Here you go. it's one I'm proud of too, result was quite neat .. for me :giggle: .. ah you can see where I initially got it wrong. Think it was case of the not measuring twice rule. As a friend of mine says .. "if a job is worth doing then you may as well do it twice" o_O Regards...

removable access pan for hidden cistern?

Hi, I've used "keku clips". If you Google them plenty will pop up. I've used them to add false backs into rear of kitchen cabinets so I can access pipework. They will give a secure, hidden and aligned fixing. Really good for fixing hidden panels. I've just done same for my gloss acrylic...

New porch and proximity of door to corner.

Ahhh .. just spotted a mistake on drawing o_O Tthe 46 is 56cm/560mm. So, 560 (external) - 260 (cavity) = 200mm internal. There, much more sense. So the external pillar or pier from dwarf wall up is 560 x 560. Wondering if I need to move this from projects to .. help (as it is really a...

Adding solar inserts to roof of a hot conservatory - a makeover.

Hi, As I’m am a newbie with one post asking for information I thought I’d post a second to give back :) We have an old (3.6M x 3.6 M , maybe 25 years) hardwood conservatory on a south face. Roof is a polycarbonate twin wall and gets so hot in summer that it’s unusable. Being of dark wood too...

New porch and proximity of door to corner.

Hi all, I’m having a new porch built to the front of my house. Sorry for the really bad technical drawing but basically a square box porch. I know I’ve seen similar “how close can a door to a corner be” too .. but this is single story porch. Window 1 on right is 600mm off the floor, off...
