Is my builder fobbing me off? Damp patch...

Yea the builder needs to investigate this. This looks like a rising damp problem to me. If it was salts why is it only on the bottom skirting line ? Why hasn't this done this all over the wall ? Keep us updated be good to hear how you got on .

    Overboarding ceilings ok?

Do you mean when you knock your knuckles on the board it sounds more hollow compared to over boarding ? Over boarding l&p ceilings is ok if you just have 1 or 2 to do but if your doing a complete refurb they should all be ripped out and denailed. Fresh start with no worries. Also easier for the...

    Overboarding ceilings ok?

That's the way matey (y) bang a few holes at one end of the ceiling to find all the joists and bang holes the opposite end and ping a string line all the way across so you no where to fire your screws in. It's much easier and less mess but pulling them down is the best way

Is an uneven wall when plastered on brick acceptable?

Yea fair play to you Roy (y)(y)... I have hardly ever used sand and cement internally on walls it's always been hardwall. I have only been spreading 12years to be fair. But it does seem easier to buy a big blue garden water butt and cut it In half then you can mix around 5bags of hardwall in...

Is my builder fobbing me off? Damp patch...

Yea like the others have said if there's a small leak going on behind there it will slowly start soaking up the plasterboard, so over time this will get worse. You can see the multi has soaked up this leak as it is really wet. Its going to be a bit of a mission but that rad needs coming off and...

Is my builder fobbing me off? Damp patch...

That's strange, like you say it is clearly not dried out plaster under the paint, looks like it possibly hasn't been 'mist coated' to be fair could be wrong. There is definitely a damp issue there that multi finish looks like it was plastered a couple hours ago (n)

Is an uneven wall when plastered on brick acceptable?

Royc, I can see what your trying to achieve in this pic but wouldn't it be easier to do 1meter apart batterns floor to ceiling and rule up them around all walls removing the coving also

Is an uneven wall when plastered on brick acceptable?

I would simply buy enough bags of hardwall to cover that area at a decent thickness Wack the whole wall on and rule it up and across checking with a straight edge as I go. Once the hardwall has pulled in I would skim multi finish over the top, speed skim that flat Then 2nd coat - trowel up - cut...

    Overboarding ceilings ok?

Yea pretty much Also making sure all the board is screwed to joists and not flapping at one end. And not to gappy around ceiling lines and joins etc. Good luck :)

    Overboarding ceilings ok?

Is an uneven wall when plastered on brick acceptable?

Yea I inderstand the question just the string lines and dabs and tossing around sounds like hard work any decent spread would bang a few bags of hardwall over the lot and rule it off flat as a pool table and skim over same day job done :sneaky:
