Securing load onto exterior wall (inside)...

That's a pretty cool, and simple, idea. Cheers mate. Are you thinking that if it has laths(?) then they're probably attached to joists and the magnet would find the fixings? I like this idea a lot. Will give it a try. Thank you.

Securing load onto exterior wall (inside)...

That's plan B. Wall-mounting would be a better use of space for me if I can manage it.

Securing load onto exterior wall (inside)...

Hi all, Wasn't 100% sure where to post this, but figured General was as good a place as any. Also, apologies if my terminology is incorrect here, please bear with me. I'm looking to install some pull-up bars in an upstairs room, on an exterior (?) wall (i.e. inside, but the wall is a...

really made a boob on this plasterboard!

Personally, I think putting up plasterboard is an underrated accomplishment. The joists/noggins are never where you need them (or wide enough); the room is never a nice rectangle (always a slight parallelogram); your girlfriend can never manage to hold her end up in the right place for more...

    Coving? :sneaky:

    Blending multi-finish (plastering in sections)...

Oh, not that big really. 10-12m2, something like that. Large enough to be a problem for a newb like me, but probably something that anyone with more experience would have whipped through no problem at all.

    Blending multi-finish (plastering in sections)...

Well... got it done in one hit. That one was pretty hard on the shoulders. :) It certainly isn't my finest work, and needs a little bit of filling in places, but really not too bad and I feel good for pushing myself.

    FCU on 2-gang faceplate?

Cheers John. I am tempted by those - even though I don't really need anything fancy in this particular case. However, I am a big fan of BG's wall sockets with USB chargers (have fitted them almost everywhere) so almost inclined to go for that just because they made it. ;)

    FCU on 2-gang faceplate?

They look pretty smart too. Is there any advantage/disadvantage in using them instead of grid systems? Aside from the availability of a socket module.

    FCU on 2-gang faceplate?

Thanks Gaz. If nothing else, it's something new for me to "play" with. (y) I'd heard "grid switches" and "grid wiring" mentioned before, but didn't realise this is what it is. I'd certainly take some trial-and-error screwing over redecorating any day.

    FCU on 2-gang faceplate?

Ooooh. Looks like the job. Cheers fella.

    FCU on 2-gang faceplate?

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone makes a standard 13 A unswitched FCU to fit a 2-gang surface-mounted socket? A muppet helpfully placed the second (of only two) wall sockets inside a wardrobe (at floor level... right at the back... so you have to open the wardrobe and get down on your...

    Blending multi-finish (plastering in sections)...

Cool, cheers. I'm feeling a bit more confident now as the hour draws closer - its only a couple of m2 more than I've done previously after all. :)

    Blending multi-finish (plastering in sections)...

Thanks again. I'll do just that. I'd never heard the advice about keeping doors and windows shut before - makes sense though. Time to up my game. :)

    Blending multi-finish (plastering in sections)...

Cheers mate. Sounds like the best plan will be to get my skates on and see what I can do, then use plan B if I need to. At least the weather is going to be awful, which might help me out a bit. :)

    Blending multi-finish (plastering in sections)...

Hi all, Lurked on this forum for a while (so thank you for all the advice I've gotten in secret) but only just registered. I'm not a plasterer, but have done a bit (couple of walls and tiny ceilings) with pretty decent results (and I enjoy it). I have a ceiling to do with multi-finish and...
