Guys I switched back to my original wiring - and all is working perfectly.

I have had some improvement in situation.
This is based on;
L1 - blue / black (red sleeve)
L2 - yellow (red sleeve) / red (no sleeve)
+
L2 - Black (new 3 core)
L1 - grey (new 3 core)
The front room light can now be turn on at any of the 3 light switches (incl double switch)
HOWEVER;

Existing wiring into existing 2way 1gang -
Common - red (no sleeve)
L1 - blue / black (red sleeve)
L2 - yellow (red sleeve) / red (no sleeve)
New intermediate -
As existing;
L1 - blue / black (red sleeve)
L1 - yellow (red sleeve) / red (no sleeve)

L2 - Black (new 3 core)
L2 - grey (new 3...
Brown in common at the other switch. Since the new wiring is Brown. But connected to existing red on the intermediate switch by block.
And yes the red and black connected to the new intermediate are from the same existing wire

This switch is a single on the wall near the stairs.
I want to wire in a double switch next to the stairs;
I have wired the upstairs lighting to the double switch fine.

Alright guys I bought some 3 and core. Still having trouble wiring up. The double I.e. The right switch controlling upstairs works fine now. The trouble is with the one on the left of the double, that's one of three downstairs controlling the front room light. Here is the switch I'm spuring off...
