12 Litres Per Minute - OK for a combi?

It seems so - based only on the fact our rads work the 'wrong way around'. Our lock shield caps are on the flow side of the radiator. They did not warn us or tell us, so it could be that it's always been this way but pretty sure we'd have noticed.

12 Litres Per Minute - OK for a combi?

No we have nothing special installed. It's not often we do it but we've had 6 or 7 showers run at the same time with no issues. Flow is marginally worse but still far more powerful than our old ones which were 3l/min

12 Litres Per Minute - OK for a combi?

I wanted to update this thread in case anyone else discovers it - we went with a combi in the end and 3 months in couldn't be happier. We can run 2 showers perfectly fine and haven't had any issues in that regard. The space saving in the loft and cupboard has been very useful and our costs have...

    Struggling to balance radiators

Just wanted to update this thread for anyone seeing it in the future - the suggestion by @Agile was correct - the installers must have switched the direction of flow. After having so many issues with my rads losing balance, going cold and taking 1-2 hours to heat up, I opened the flow side fully...

    Struggling to balance radiators

I have a couple of digital thermometers. I think the poster above is correct and the flow has been switched around, probably why they are unbalanced as the lock shield / return will have been fully open and the flow only 1/4 - 1/2 open.

    Struggling to balance radiators

Thank you - so should I fully open one valve like has been suggested previously or should I open them both a 1/4 and then adjust just one of the valves to get the 12 degree balance?

    Struggling to balance radiators

I don't even think about that - it was a conversion from a open vented system (1989) to a combi.

    Struggling to balance radiators

Still struggling with this. Am I right in thinking if I close both valves on the radiator - turn heating on - ope both valves - the one that heats up first is the flow? Because on most of them this is the valve with the small cap and not the turn valve which I initially thought controlled the...

    Struggling to balance radiators

That's what I thought - but if that's true why doesn't the radiator heat up with the flow fully open and lock shield closed? Is this due to air? In my mind the radiator would fill up with hot water but just not go anywhere after that.

    Struggling to balance radiators

I am assuming on our rads the On our rads, the one with the turn head appears to dictate the flow out of the radiator. I have closed both valves off, and if I open the one with the turn head fully open, nothing happens. If I turn the valve on the other side, I can hear water rushing into the...

    Struggling to balance radiators

The ones without a knob appear to be the ones that control flow into the radiator. I thought the lockshield was on the return… In this case which ones do I open fully and which do I open a half turn etc ?

    Struggling to balance radiators

All of them have these as both sides - expect 1 radiator which has a flat type screw. Half have one side like this (which is the same as above underneath) Some have a white cap over one side which I assume is the lock shield but who knows as underneath they look the same. one or two have...

    Struggling to balance radiators

Since we had a new boiler installed I am struggling to balance the radiators - they will be fine for a few days or even weeks but eventually go very tepid. Because they are tepid It's difficult to work out which order they run in. I have just brought some digital thermometer clips and plan on...

    New boiler constantly need balancing?

FYI I have also tried to work out which radiator heats up first but even when they do heat it it's generally about an hour for them to do so.

    New boiler constantly need balancing?

FYI I have also tried to do the I haven't looked. I will google over the weekend how to check the filter. We had our cylinder removed, just a combi now.

    New boiler constantly need balancing?

Problem is they are all cold so I can't fine tune. We had a MagnaCleanse system flush but I am a little cynical about how long they ran it based on noise etc. It felt like about 30 mins and I expected it to be a couple of hours - for starters they were huffing and puffing about doing it and how...

    New boiler constantly need balancing?

New boiler conversion (gravity to combi). Plumber left us with inconsistent rads, 24 hours later all 13 refuse to heat up above 30 degrees. No issues with thermostat, and boiler is turning on/off as needed with that. I took advice from an old post on here and shut off all the radiators and...

When would you use a boiler bracket?

We recently had a boiler installed (Veissmann 050W) and the installer has placed it on a big piece of chipboard and ontop of that is a boiler bracket. He said they are all installed that way but looking at reviews for this company I am seeing the same boiler, neatly installed onto the wall...
