Bathroom light flickering with switch in off position

Ceiling mounted, the water seems to just collect in the pipe above the ceiling which eventually floods the fan unit. Exact same thing happened a few years ago in other bathroom. Just a long period of condensation ending up in the pipe I guess.

Yes that’s correct, and I just took off the fan cover and it’s full of water!!

Bathroom light flickering with switch in off position

Thanks for the quick replies. So there’s an extractor fan switch above the light switch, what’s supposed to happen (and has for 9 years) is that if the extractor fan switch is on the the fan will run immediately when the light is switched on and will then continue to run for a short period after...

Bathroom light flickering with switch in off position

Hi, looking for some advice. My bathroom light tripped one of the two RCDs and when I reset it I noticed the light (4 LED downlights actually) flickering when the switch is in the off position but only if extractor fan switch is on. The extractor fan usually runs whenever the lights are on...

    Granny plugs ? For ev

Hi all, just jumping on this thread with some experience of my own. So I've had an EV for over a year now and only used granny lead for first few weeks or in emergencies (like when my Zappi EV charger randomly stops working but that's another story!). Some more recent experience is when I went...

AEG oven - DE4013001M new clock unit

Hi, Looking for some advice, the clock in my oven has become very dim and the chime very quiet. A replacement clock unit (part number 5619490229) is £121, not cheap but can't really live without it (especially as oven no longer switches off when timer ends). AEG says it needs to be installed by...

    Washing machine drain connector

Thanks all, I'm intrigued by the presence of the air gap, is there ever a scenario where you put a lot of liquid down the sink or from the attached appliances and it's enough to fill the pipe completely and leak from the air gap?

    Washing machine drain connector

Pipe splitting off on the left is washing machine drain, one on the right appears to be coming from our boiler as far as I can tell

    Washing machine drain connector

Sorry, first post not entirely accurate, here’s what’s under the sink right now.

    Washing machine drain connector

Seems like DIYnot has disabled the link, if you copy and paste it it still works, or search for "McAlpine V33S Compression Domestic Appliance Tee Piece Connector White 40mm (4167P)"

    Thermino Thermal Battery

Thanks for the detailed reply, I suppose I can just ask other installers for their opinion as they can all get the same government grants I presume?

    Thermino Thermal Battery

Thanks, but why does that lead on to the need to replace the hot water tank?

    Thermino Thermal Battery

Thanks for the info, is there truth to this though: Not sure I understand how the PCM can be 3-4 more efficient than my existing cylinder which is rated at 2.1 kWh loss per 24h. That would mean worst case I lose about 16% (250 litre cylinder) per day, although I suppose that will add up to...

    Thermino Thermal Battery

Thanks, I'm aware that radiators might be too small, but he didn't mention that. The pipes were they only thing that he brought up that might be an issue, but what does that (or even the size of the radiators) have to do with how the hot water is stored? Found him from Home Energy Scotland!

    Thermino Thermal Battery

Hi, Looking for some advice, an installer came to give me a quote for solar panels and he brought up the subject of a heat pump too. I live in Scotland and apparently the grants only apply if you get both together, which is fine as my boiler is getting old anyway. He said something about the...

White alarm/phone cable, how professionals hide it

Oops that didn’t work, here’s the photo.

White alarm/phone cable, how professionals hide it

In the end I got the EV charger installer to tidy up the cables and this is what they did, it’s quite visible but looks OK so I’m happy with it.

    How to close these valves?

Thanks again, great explanation, I didn’t realise that the HW expansion vessel was on the cylinder/taps side. This raises another question - what would happen if this one had an issue? I’ll try repressurising the one at the back of the boiler.

    How to close these valves?

Thanks! Another query about expansion vessels rather than valves: I initially thought that CH and HW can both be heated at the same time but now I’m not sure, I suppose not as the temperature going to the radiators would be too high? I think my CH expansion vessel has an issue but is there a way...
