    Insulation for garden office soffit?

I have built a garden office and I need help in determining whether I need to insulate the area where the soffit is, where the overhang is at the front, back and sides. Some say leave the area clear for air flow and others say insulate it. I have insulated the roof, walls and floor. The office...

Timber lintel for 4.8 x 3 pub shed?

Hi I'm about to start building a 4.8m x 3m pub shed. The roof will be a flat roof using 6 x 2 timber, with a 100mm drop from front to back. Im using 18mm plywood for the roof with 1.2mm sheet of epdm on top of that. I'm installing a 2.4m x 2.1m patio door central to the front. My question is...

Vapour barrier or not for pub shed?

"the most important thing that will make the structural weathertight is the air cavity behind the shiplap". Absolute agree "the problem you have is there will be days when the inside is hotter than outside and days when the inside is much colder than the outside." Expected that In the...

Vapour barrier or not for pub shed?

Yes, that’s my opinion too. There’ll be a gap behind the shiplap as I’ll nail it on to battens

Vapour barrier or not for pub shed?

Hi all. I'm building a pub shed and currently in the design stage, readying myself to order the materials. The design of the walls from the outside to in is thus - 25mm shiplap, batons, breathable membrane, 18mm osb, insulation, studwork, internal cladding. The size of the shed is 4.5m x 3m...

Sub base for 4m x 2m block paving?

This may be a silly question but I'm building a porch, and in front of the porch Im laying down a 4m x 2m block paving in to my existing lawn using some reclaimed bricks I have. As the paving will only be used to walk over in to the porch (no heavy weight will go over the paving) do i still need...

Tiles coming away from the wall, is it a problem?

From the angle of the picture the tiles look ok to me, it's the angle bead that seems to be coming away from the tiles. Can you take a picture from the other side?

    Bal Primer on plasterboard question

Hi. I'm using Bal Primer on plasterboard before I intend to tile but was wondering how long I can leave the board until I need to tile after I have primed. Can I prime the board a day before I tile? I have seen somewhere on here that I should tile 30mins after tiling. To me that sounds like...

3 core and earth instead of 2 core and earth?

I pointed out it was wasteful, but didn't bother to add that perhaps he could use the 3 core for something else later. I didn't need to "bother" saying I needed to use the 3 core for anything else anyway, it's irrellevant. I had some spare, it was all you needed to know. Why would I go out and...

3 core and earth instead of 2 core and earth?

That's great, thanks. I'm also putting in a fan and isolator switch, so the 3 core is needed. But as I have quite a bit of it on a reel it is cheaper for me to use some on a new light than buying some 2 core cable.

3 core and earth instead of 2 core and earth?

Hi. I want to put in a new light in a bedroom and wondered if I could use 1.5mm 3 core and earth lighting cable instead of 2 core and earth? I have some spare and wondered if it would suffice? Thank.
