    Installing new light and switch

I’m not worried about fitting a smart switch in the future. With that in mind, is it best to do it as mentioned before?

    Installing new light and switch

I’m saying it is permanent as the bottom wiring is the original colours of black and red, along with yellow/green.

    Installing new light and switch

Thank you. I’m pretty sure it is the main power to the lights, because a light was moved in one of the upstairs rooms hence why the junction box was used.

The cables going into the junction box are all electrical supply for other lights in the upstairs rooms.

    Installing new light and switch

I am looking at installing a new light and switch. I have 3 power cables going into a junction box in the loft. Am I right in thinking that I can put new cable into junction box then connect to light fitting. Then have cable from light fitting in switch?

Spur off socket with own breaker?

No, it’s just a double socket in the kitchen which has the small chest freezer plugged into it. The kitchen electrics are on a different breaker.

Spur off socket with own breaker?

Thank you. It won’t have a big load on it, just a plug in air freshener or some fairy lights

Spur off socket with own breaker?

We have a double socket which is wired directly to the MCB. I want to put another socket about 6 feet away. Can I just spur off this? Have attached picture to give an idea of what it is.

Extend ring main into new room

I may just get him to put spur off 1 socket to a double socket. It is only for a couple of table lamps and maybe a TV if the kids want to go in there.

Extend ring main into new room

Thank you. Is the 106 metres the total length of cable, or square meters? What about spurring off individual sockets(?

Extend ring main into new room

We are looking at putting some extra sockets into another room, however an electrician we have spoken to has said we can possibly extend the ring main. He has mentioned about breaking the connection between the 2 circled sockets and extending the main that way, ie connect to socket then create...

    Help with socket

Thanks again. Basically the kitchen sockets are all on a ring, but the electrician added this double socket after, hence why it is the only socket on the 16A breaker. I just wanted to make sure it was safe before getting it looked at

    Help with socket

Thank you for the reply. Is it ok to get another double socket added? So basically it would be wire out of consumer unit to new double socket, then wire continued to existing socket. Is it ok to have a fridge freezer running of this?

    Help with socket

We have a double socket which only has one wire supplying it and it has its own breaker on the consumer unit. The breaker is a 16A as far as I am aware. I was thinking of adding another socket to the line to have some twig lights plugged into one and a fridge freezer plugged in the other. Is...

    Fence height

At the back of our garden is a lane between our house and the back gardens of the next street up. As we are on a hill, those houses overlook our garden. The back lane is only used for the dustbin lorries to come and empty the bins every 2 weeks. We already have a fence that is 2 metres high on...

    Boiler losing pressure

Just a quick update - Had British Gas around, and they seem to think it is the Main Heat Exchanger leaking causing the pressure drop. He ordered the part and came today to fit it, only to realise it was the wrong part! He then went on to say that the parts dept may not be able to get correct...
