    Loose kitchen tap

Thanks, going to order these - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-395020-Monobloc-Back-Spanner/dp/B0015NSTU4?th=1 So tightening that threaded rod (screw part) will cause no issues to the tap?

    Loose kitchen tap

Hi guys, I have not long had a new kitchen tap fitted but it has come loose (it moves about with a little hand pressure) I tried tightening the screw in the picture but it didn't seem to do anything? Do I need a box spanner? and do I need to isolate the water before doing the work? Thanks

    Screw coming through the felt

Thanks guys, after having another look it seems they have just missed the roof rafts with this screw. I assume the rest of the screws will keep this in place ?

    Screw coming through the felt

Hi, I have had my ridge tiles converted from mortar to dry ridge. I have since noticed in the attic that a screw which I think comes from the conversion has come through the felt (outside to inside) It hasn't tore it, just gone straight through. Will this cause any future issues? Thanks

    textured wall

An update for anyone interested or has come across this thread. Due to a future plan of upgrading our porch door, I decided to get a sample of the material/s tested as some repair would be needed anyway to the wall. It turns out the white part was really thin and was backed by what looks like a...

    textured wall

Thanks Woody, I've been pretty worried ever since I realized that it could contain asbestos. So from what you have said it is only a real problem if I created dust from it (sanding etc..) so my exposure of the small amount of paint flaking is negligible (plus it was a wet wipe used)? The end...

    textured wall

Hi all, Should I be concerned about the below? My porch has textured walls (see picture) and I have noticed today that a small section of the "paint" was slightly flaky, so I got a wet wipe out and gently wiped the wall and a small amount of the paint flaked off (again see in the picture) I...

    Type of mortar?

Hi all, I'm looking at doing some re-pointing to my house but I want to make sure I'm using the correct type of mortar (lime or cement). How can I tell? I have asked a builder and he assures me it is cement. The house is a traditional semi built in 1955-1960. Ok to just use a 4:1 mix of cement...

Water stain and stain block sprays question?

Hi, I have a couple of small water stain marks on my ceiling under the bathroom which are completely dry touch (shower has been on since etc....) I think I have located the source of the drip but I am not 100% sure. Is it a good idea to cover them with a stain block spray and then paint or...

Airing cupboard crack - Am I being paranoid?

Hi all, I moved into a 1960s house about 4 months ago and I have just noticed this crack in the airing cupboard (first time looking in there with it being empty) It looks old and there are no other cracks like it. The other side of the wall is a bedroom and again no cracks. The plaster looks...
