Flexible tap connectors - WRAS or not?

Thanks again Andy, I'd looked at that earlier today but just wondered why Screwfix sell non WRAS items that many people will use as they're so much cheaper. Maybe regulations should be tighter that merchants only sell WRAS approved items.

Flexible tap connectors - WRAS or not?

OK. It's amazing how many on Screwfix aren't WRAS (the majority) it begs the question when can they be used as they're so much cheaper.

Flexible tap connectors - WRAS or not?

I need to fit some new taps in the utility room and have been looking on Screwfix Direct at flexible tap connectors. What is the difference between ordinary connectors and WRAS approved connectors and which should I buy? I also might re-plumb the outside tap to incorporate a Surestop water...

Replacement CH and Hot Water programmer.

Hi, I want to replace an aging Randall 4033 Heating and Hot water prgrammer, see wiring diagram below, with a new electronic unit. As I don't want to chase any more wires into the tiled wall can anyone recommend an appropriate compatible replacement please? As there is a common...

    My "Bleeding Radiators"

If your rads are cold bottom and warm at the top they don't need bleeding as the hot water is already at the top of the rad rather than an air lock, instead you have the situation where your rads are partially blocked with sludge which needs to be removed from them. It's likely your system has...

    Pintossi 15mm Automatic Air Vent

Is this what I need for auto vents in the loft on my HW and do they leak/drip at all that might require some for of tray siliconed around the pipes? http://www.heatingcontrolsonline.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=29&products_id=183 Thanks

Hawk II combi - hot water or heating but not both

An engineer job then! Would that be a replacement part or can they be freed off?

Hawk II combi - hot water or heating but not both

Only says Hawk II on the boiler. The manual lists a G20 or G31 variant but the boiler doesn't have an obvious marking although there is a 1995 installation sticker. Installation manual has reference to WRC9207076 on front cover but this may apply to both boilers. As I posted before...

Hawk II combi - hot water or heating but not both

A friend without internet has a Hawk II combi. All through the summer he has had hot water OK. He's just put the heating on and to start with he has heat and water but he hasn't got any hot water when the heating has been on for a couple of hours. If he turns the heating off he can get hot...

Can't fit power shower, which electric instant

Even the most slimline coffin tank won't go through my rafters. I only have about 410mm spacing where the bungalow does a right angle. No room anywhere to place a tank without going round the corner. I even bought a round flexi tank because I was told it would squash up but NO WAY!!! Looking...

Can't fit power shower, which electric instant

Yes, I'd thought of that too but in a previous post I was advised that may cost from £1200 to £2000 which I'm not too keen about. Looks like I'm after the best of electric and make do.

Can't fit power shower, which electric instant

I wanted to install an Aqualisa Quartz power shower but there is no practical way of getting a 50 gal tank in the loft to replace or join to my feeble thing that holds about 10 or 15 gals. The way the rafters are and the position of the loft hatch I would have to take a section of ceiling down...

Do you need a soil vent pipe

Butting in but I have one WC in my bungalow and no vent anywhere to be seen! WC waste straight down into floor and runs deep to manhole. Nothing more or less. Although the place is about 25 to 30 years old it must surely have passed building regs at the time. __________________________...

Overtightned compression fittings - copper tails damaged

The pipes are long enough. If anything need about 1-2mm taking off for a perfect non strained fit. Only the TRV's are this style, the lockshields have standard backnuts and olives. As they're really old, grubby and 'orrid they're going out. Will Fernox LS-X seal any waisted pipe where an...

Overtightned compression fittings - copper tails damaged

I'm replacing all radiator valves and the tails seem to be squashed and slightly bent as though overtightened by a previous bod. I've had to cut most of the olives off, not a chance of sliding off and the old TRV's had a male thread backnut into a female valve body so can't be reused. Can I...

Radiator Valves 15mm or 1/2 inch

I've just tried the new olives on the existing copper pipes and a piece of new pipe and they fit on both pipes the same. A further point would be that as the old pipes are very slightly waisted where the previous compression joint was will this seal OK with new olives and fittings?

Radiator Valves 15mm or 1/2 inch

This is a silly question to all those that know the answer... I'm changing the TRV's and lockshield valves on my rads and moving the roomstat as per a previous post. Been to the shed for the lockshields today and had the choice of 15mm at £2.18 or 15mm 1/2 inch at nearly a fiver. I...
