Difference between latex and non-latex floor levelling compound

The wall was an internal wall between kitchen and dining room. The house is 1950s so I don't think there was a DPM. Been doing more research since the last poster's reply and finding out a lot about how important the moisture issue is. Also I spoke to someone at Setcrete's technical department...

Difference between latex and non-latex floor levelling compound

Well, when I say the Karndean guy, I meant the salesman in the local Karndean supplier store, not a fitter. the subfloor is a concrete slab with sand/cement screed for original house. We took down a wall between 2 rooms so the floors are not level, hence me needing to level it. But I’m...

Difference between latex and non-latex floor levelling compound

I bet this has been asked before, but can someone tell me what the main differences are between latex self leveller and other self levellers? Want to level the kitchen/diner floor (old concrete floor) and put Karndean LTV down. Currently the floor is unlevel (about 3-5mm difference across the...

radiator trickling sound but won't bleed

Thanks MJN Yeah I guess its possible that the airlock is in the pipes. There is a vertical coming down and then a pretty long horizontal run around the room to the rad. If there was air in the pipes though, would would that cause a trickling sound in the rad? I'd still expect the rad to be...

radiator trickling sound but won't bleed

plastic fittings on wall brackets are all in place. The trickling sound only happens while the water pump is active. Closing the valve stops the flow and therefore stops the trickling sound.

radiator trickling sound but won't bleed

Ha ha, ok thanks. Well I'm still curious about where the trickling sound is coming from. But yeah, it does seem like the rad is full anyway...

radiator trickling sound but won't bleed

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes the bleed valve is at the top. The radiator gets hot all over with no cold spots.

radiator trickling sound but won't bleed

Hi. As the title says, I have a regular style radiator which constantly has a trickling sound while the heating is running, but each time I try to bleed it, no air comes from the bleed valve, just water. Curious to know people's suggestions on how to get the air out. Cheers

Removing surface mortar from brick wall

Hi John, yeah I might do, depending on how easy/difficult it is to remove it. If there is a simple way to get it off, I'd rather do it myself TBH as I'd rather not have to deal with them, but if its not straight forward to remove, then perhaps I will....hence me asking for advice on how to...

Removing surface mortar from brick wall

Hi Ken Yes I'm 100% sure its mortar. They used the mortar to fill in the gap left by the old window sill which was presumably larger than the new one...and its the same stuff which is smeared all over the wall.

Removing surface mortar from brick wall

We just had a new window fitted and it wasn't until a few days after I'd paid the fitter that I noticed that he's wiped his excess mortar on the brick wall alongside and below the window...looks pretty awful from the back garden, just wish I'd noticed it sooner! So I want to know if there is...

What type of fixings should I use to hold a floating vanity unit

Thanks for the replies guys. What I am a bit amazed by is that the guy in the video seems to be using pretty small screws to hold the unit to the wall (skip to about 19 mins in the video) Are those screws seriously enough to hold all of that weight up? Maybe I'm being too worried over this...

What type of fixings should I use to hold a floating vanity unit

Twin bath valves into single bath filler

OK thanks, I had a feeling that was the case, but thanks for confirming. Really struggled to find an answer to that simple problem :) and yes the pressure is at mains pressure for cold and direct from combi boiler for hot. In terms of regs, do you know if I'll need check valves on both feeds or...

Twin bath valves into single bath filler

@denso13 i don't want to get a different valve, I am looking at twin valves as shown in the first link I posted https://www.qssupplies.co.uk/bathroom-furniture-shower-taps/2952.htm My question is, how are these valves meant to be mixed to pass to a bath spout?

Twin bath valves into single bath filler

Thanks, but I'm still confused. I don't want a separate temperature control, so if I use a thermostatic valve surely I'd need a third valve somewhere to control temperature? @Madrab, you mentioned a manual mixer valve...can you show me an example of one of these? Thanks

Twin bath valves into single bath filler

Hi. I need some advice. Been looking at buying a set of twin bath valves for hot and cold, and using an overflow filler like these: https://www.qssupplies.co.uk/bathroom-furniture-shower-taps/2952.htm...

Help needed - can I reduce the interior footprint of my roofline...see pictures

Hi. Well the top beam is a wall plate I think, because its in line with the back wall of the bedroom. The bottom beam just seems to be suspended from the top beam and I don't think its mounted in the brick work. And you can see that its definitely not supported on the far right hand side. I'm...

Help needed - can I reduce the interior footprint of my roofline...see pictures

Hi Catlad. Yeah that was my concern too, although from my (untrained) point of view, it doesn't look like it would be adding much strength... Neighbours don't have the stepped wall...in fact no other house on the street does as far as I can tell...
