Late reply but just wanted to say thanks for explaining as this is exactly what the problem was. Yes I am a plumbing novice but the actual plumber himself also didn't realise this and had to get his assistant to show him that the center of the tap was orientated wrong!

But it's not the tap that's faulty, the installers can change the orientation?

I have attached two photos, the first showing the cold water position and the second showing hot water. I basically want it so you turn the top lever all way left instead of right.

when you lift up the top lever you get cold water by default, if you want hot water you have to turn it anti clockwise to your right. It doesn't turn left at all. I want it to do the opposite, turn it clockwise to your left get hot water.

The plumber said that it's how all these taps turn today. Is that right? Any way to change it?

It's a single hot water tap that is leaking. I took the front cap off but the gap is really small so I am not sure how I get into the tap to change the washer?

Hi, the water is slow to move down especially if I do a second flush quickly. However why would the water and paper start leaking from under the stairs? This must indicate a damage pipe rather than blockage?

It comes and goes. It’s from the outside pipe that the toilet waste travels in (see attached) It’s blocked a few times but this time the toilet is not blocked. It flushes fine. Why the smell?

Yes one shot instant drain cleaner with sulphuric acid. It did get the job done last time although it did smell of eggs. I can't think how else to fix it. An auger won't go that far. would you advise against using it even if I wear gloves and goggles? Maybe I need to call a plumber.

My shower/bath and sink share the same drain. No water travels to the sink when the shower is on. However when I have the shower on the water in the sink trap starts to bubble. It doesn't come up the sink but I can see it bubbling away in the trap. Is this an issue with pressure? What would...
