    Baxi 105e burner problem.

Hi, the antique pre-condensing Baxi 105e only has the simplest dial with no actual numbers on it. I have been running it on Maximum during this period of repairs so the panel lights have hit the 80C mark. Weirdly the system has never had any kind of thermostat, neither room stat or TRVs. I...

    Baxi 105e burner problem.

Hi all, thanks to all recent contributors. The good news from late yesterday continued this morning, with the boiler running steadily and reaching 80C at a normal pace and without any burner failure. The clean-out of the filter in the CH Return valve must have helped as it was seriously...

    Baxi 105e burner problem.

Thanks for that. I went through a number of ever-hopeful procedures, checked all electrical connections including on the PCB, and did find surface rust on the main Earth tab on the chassis (just to the left of the DHW diaphragm), so cleaned that up. Checked the fan and the venturi, close...

    Baxi 105e burner problem.

Back again. I cleaned out the Return pipe filter, and have fitted a new external expansion tank (old one almost just full of water). It has a 'new' (re-con) complete diverter. Everything looks good to go, no leaks, 1 Bar pressure etc. BUT....keeping temper....the CH is still failing: it...

    Baxi 105e burner problem.

Thanks, yep it was horribly gunged up with all sorts - matted. I got it cleaned up and replaced everything including a rigid filling loop, and that was the start of hours of confused faffing about, as the boiler would not re-fill through the loop at all. I took the loop off again, filter out...

    Baxi 105e burner problem.

Thanks, i just about remember digging a load of rubbish out of there a few years ago. Hiw to do with the Minimum of draining down ?

With the pump do you mean ?

    Baxi 105e burner problem.

Hi again. Fitted the new Expansion Vessel and the boiler fired up ok. The CH flow pipe was too hot to touch in about ten seconds, so i'm thinking there's no problem with the pump. Will run it to full temperature tomorrow and hope there's some progress and 'nothing to report', i live in hope.

    Baxi 105e burner problem.

Thanks v much, that sounds intriguing and its a new idea to me. I will get back with a report on the CH flow pipe heating up as soon as the new expansion vessel arrives and i can fire up the boiler, possibly tomorrow, definitely by Thursday. I don't know anything definite about the pump's age...

    Baxi 105e burner problem.

Thanks Ian, yes, the pin shoots up and operates the microswitch, the fan runs, ignition happens and the flame lights as normal, but it went out after a minute or two. Running the hot water side for a while 'persuades' the CH to stay on and reach full temperature. It was doing this last Winter...

    Baxi 105e burner problem.

Hi all. Just fitted a new Diverter Valve assembly to an ageing Baxi 105e, and after some initial problems with leaks from the pressure sensing pipes, it was all sound and leak-free, so ready to fire up. Yesterday it started and ran to temperature normally, but this morning, after the burner...

Baxi 105e Pressure Sensing Pipes how to seal / leaking

THANKS Ian, you're a star. Just before i opened this up i decided to try the old DHW valve (the 6-bolt thing) to see if is a better fit for the sensing pipes than the complete 'new' diverter block i got from ebay, and i connected them without any O Rings. To my relief (so far) they are not...

Baxi 105e Pressure Sensing Pipes how to seal / leaking

I'm totally confused now - i have one bunch of people saying the Baxi 105e sensing pipes never had O-Rings, another on the fence, and exploded diagrams like the one i linked showing O-Rings at the ends of the sensing pipes. Really need the cast-iron fact.

Baxi 105e Pressure Sensing Pipes how to seal / leaking

Thanks Chris, i tried the link but it doesn't show any actual location for the O-ring. No picture etc.

Baxi 105e Pressure Sensing Pipes how to seal / leaking

Thanks Ian, yeah maybe unlucky. When you've done that diaphragm swap all those times, did you take out the sensing pipes ? That's the only place i'm getting the leak. Point taken about the service kit - just thought i'd go the whole hog this time and get the whole 'lump of brass'. Would you...

Baxi 105e Pressure Sensing Pipes how to seal / leaking

Thanks Jeff, not olives but a kind of flared swelling at the end of the pipe ( never a happy thing! ). The bad aspect of this should-be simple job, is that when the diverter body is fixed in the boiler case, it's nigh on impossible to see down the holes where the tiny O-rings go, to check if...

Baxi 105e Pressure Sensing Pipes how to seal / leaking

Hi. Ok, a job i've done a few times before - replacement of the whole Diverter Assembly for the old Baxi 105e. After re-filling, i have no leaks apart from weeping from both the copper Pressure Sensing tubes on the front diaphragm housing. I know the 2 little O-Rings need to be correctly...

    Baxi 105e problem

It's some time since i looked inside the diverter - any chance you could describe where the small orifice is that might be partially blocked - presumably its under the diaphragm at the bottom of the chamber somewhere ? Or...? Thanks.

    Baxi 105e problem

Thanks for that - the whole diverter valve was re-built with new parts about a year ago, but i take the point about the blocked orifice especially as every radiator on the system had to be taken outside and flushed last year, they were choked, and the return elbow at the bottom of the boiler...

    Baxi 105e problem

Hello all. Been babysitting an old Baxi105e for three years and it's not a disaster but a bit temperamental. Current niggle : first time in the day, the CH side only fires up if the Hot water is run at the tap first for a few minutes. On turning the hot tap off the CH smoothly takes over and...
