Guessing what the old loft insulation is?

Looks similar (as in white and thin) but not the same material just due to the slight glean and you can make out longer thinner threads in the light.

Guessing what the old loft insulation is?

Thanks for the replies. Thickness is 50mm, on the extension from the early 1980s is a more modern and much thicker material. So I'd say the thinner stuff must predate it.

Guessing what the old loft insulation is?

Hi everyone, I'm going to be topping up the existing inadequate loft insulation in my late 1940s home. There's an existing thin sheet layer of insulation. Being curious I was trying to work out what it is. No idea when it was put in either. Think I can see fine long strands, a bit shiny in the...

Boiler Leaking or normal? Feedback welcome

@CBW thanks for your reply. That's what I thought about the sealed system. Out of interest what sort of drop in say 4 weeks from 1.4 would suggest an issue/leak? I do have a feeling the system is settling, weird thing is the pressure didn't budge for the first 2 months (in fact rose a bit!).

Boiler Leaking or normal? Feedback welcome

Hi everyone, we had a new combi heating install back in Feb by a glow work approved installer (Ultimate 35, 10 new rads and new copper fittings). Four weeks ago noticed with the warmer weather the boiler pressure had risen 0.2 bar to 1.7. Installer had left it at 1.5 and it never moved off that...

Step cracks in outside mortar - cause for concern?

Hi everyone, would really appreciate some views on the below pics to my untrained eye. Bit of background. It's a 1930s semi, the mortar in question was repointed before we took ownership in 2011, I'm guessing early 2000s. The crack runs only in the mortar from the downpipe near the bottom...

Asbestos or fibre cement corrugated garage roof. Opinions?

Thanks for the replies. I don't know the maker of the garage I'm afraid. But I checked BBM UK and they stopped trading back in 2010. I did find another sheet with a much clearer date stamp that says 22 03 05 D.

Asbestos or fibre cement corrugated garage roof. Opinions?

Hi everyone, would really appreciate your views. I'm wondering if it's worth getting our garage roof tested to check if it's asbestos. According to our neighbour it was built in at least 2001. I decided to check if I could find any ID stamps (see attached pics). The first pic looks like a...

Tado extension installation on baxi-duo-tec 28HEA Combi - wiring question!

Tado have sent me some personalised instructions to install the extension kit into my baxi-duo-tec 28HEA Combi. Having looked at the terminal block Tado are asking me to to connect the blue to N, Brown to 1 and grey to 2 in the terminal box. All good so far as for Brown to 1 and grey to 2 this...
