Replacing a Hive with a Drayton Wiser

Hello all, I've had a new system boiler and unvented cylinder installed, along with a Hive in the last few weeks. We aren't getting on with the Hive at all - connection from the thermostat is pretty erratic even in the next room to the utility where the controller is located, and the behaviour...

Replacing an old oil boiler - quotes seem very high!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've just read that article on combi's and I'm inclined to agree. We love the idea of removing the hot water tank and the airing cupboard and freeing up space in the bathroom which was the big draw. The reason for asking for itemised was two-fold - the first...

Replacing an old oil boiler - quotes seem very high!

Hello all, Last December we moved into a 200+ year old detatched stone house in Somerset, with a 30+ year old oil boiler which we had several issues with before we got into the warmer months. It's an open vented system, but the hot water has never worked so we've been reliant on the immersion...

2.5mm or 6mm SWA to feed garden room/workshop

2.5mm or 6mm SWA to feed garden room/workshop

I'm nearing the end of my garden room build and planning on laying the SWA this weekend. Have got an electrician lined up to do the checks who had suggested 6mm SWA. The distance from the house CU to garden room CU is about 15m so not a huge distance and dropping some numbers into a calculator...

Help with DPM/DPC for garden room/workshop build

Thanks for the responses. My issue with this is that I've gone right up to the permitted development limit of 15 square metres, so using this method (insulation on the outside) will mean that I'll go over the limit unless the walls are about 200mm thick. There's also not a lot of space behind...

Help with DPM/DPC for garden room/workshop build

Thanks! Also to add to my first post, someone suggested that I coat the outside of the concrete, bricks and mortar with some clear waterproofing paint. I know this isn't a long term solution - any thoughts on this?

Help with DPM/DPC for garden room/workshop build

Hello all, new to the forums and hoping for some advice. I'm building a 5.65x3 garden room / workshop at the moment and have very little prior experience, so have been looking online and asking experienced friends and family along the way. I've cast a 150mm concrete slab 100mm longer and wider...
