    Garden Retreat

We wouldn't know how and where to begin - us girls and a blowtorch - disaster waiting to happen! The only thing going through the girls mind would be lets torch it and call out the firemen :D:ROFLMAO::LOL: We would appreciate any other thoughts from other people before we make a decision. We...

@JohnD Noticed this evening the top layer of a few boards are 'flaking off'. I'm fearing this delamination you mentioned has happened :(:(

Help - advice on Mold on Plywood

Hiya friends, Doing a build (https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/garden-retreat.514649/) and recently found there is mold on the plywood. Plywood is 18mm and was given a coat of wood preserver (https://www.wood-finishes-direct.com/product/barrettine-premier-wood-preservative) before I put on the...

    Splashback

Hiya, We had a similar issue with the bathroom and we used these guys for the trims: https://www.trimtraders.co.uk/trim-and-seal-corner-pieces.html And then sparingly using clear bathroom sealant to 'water-tight' the gaps. Hope this helps!

    Garden Retreat

Hiya all, So with the good weather now we have decided to get back to finishing this project off this year. We lifted off the wraps and we found mold and discoloration on the Plywood. :( I have attached pictures. Some of the ply have mold on the top and some have not. Some of the...

Hiya. Yes. We have a Lawful Development Certificate for the build - which we have had the Council BR rep come out and re-assess and he has confirmed in writing all is far within permitted.

    Garden Retreat

Thank for the advice! We went out and got some DPM and Tape (double and single sided tape) over the festive holidays (not quite what we wanted to do, rather spend money on the sales :)). We all got really sad after we took off the tarp (which was doubled up). We got this horror: The...

    Garden Retreat

Thanks for the advice!! We were thinking of putting down battens down on the ply and stretching the DPM over them to give an airgap for the ply to 'breathe'. Do you think that would work? Or should I just put it directly onto the ply?

    Garden Retreat

Thanks James. Will consider it as it is the only option as those tarps are utter useless. Will pop over to screwfix or toolstation at the weekend and pick up some DPM. Rather staple it around the edges, then will put the tarp back on. Need to arrange time with the girls as we've got more...

48sqm kitchen extension. £30k all in

Kudos pilsbury!! That is amazing! I'm inspired. Tbh, I don't have the same tenacity nor the commitment. Looking at a similar - wraparound build - and I have been quoted 70k+ on average from 5 builders quotes. Now, I'm in the Midlands, not London. The wraparound is - single storey, rear...

    Garden Retreat

Hiya, First post on here, thought it best to put something up rather than highjack other posts. Mind, reading the other posts, apart from helping in part with my project, it has been an inspiration for me (and the girls) to take on a house project together :) Project: Garden Retreat - Office &...
