    Fixing bay window concrete surround

Ye I don't know if the drain is damaged currently. The damp in the cellar is not a major issue. It's mostly fine but there is a puddle down there after heavy downpour. Worth noting that the incoming water supply comes through the cellar wall from the ground at the front of the house and was...

    Fixing bay window concrete surround

Makes sense. I have seen breathable studded membranes used in foundations but it's quite costly and I'd have to buy way more than needed.

    Fixing bay window concrete surround

Pi Wouldn't any groundwater just hit the DPC/go into the cellar as usual? Which is fine. I just want to limit surface/rainwater at the edge of the house, that is all. Basically my thinking is emulating the function of the existing concrete surround by adding gravel against the wall with a DPM...

    Fixing bay window concrete surround

Also if you see an older post of mine regarding the water pipe, it was very badly fitted - not sealed properly or anything which is probably why the damp is worse.

    Fixing bay window concrete surround

Cheers, I think the plinth is original - all of the terraces around here have them. Some have exposed brick between the plinth and the stone cill. I don't fancy opening a can of worms with the drain and repointing brickwork, hence my quick plan to protect with membrane and forget about it. If...

    Fixing bay window concrete surround

I did think about a french drain at one point, but is it really neccessery for this small area? It might be worth noting that this part has been covered only with some tarp for the past year and it's not been an issue. I just want to move rainfall down into the garden area, and cover the area...

Wasn't planning on. Just wanted to divert rain water away from the house.

    Fixing bay window concrete surround

Part of the bay window concrete surround is missing due to some water works, and rather than remove the whole thing and re-do, or concrete the missing part, I plan to: Create a sloped surface with rocks (see photo) Apply a damp proof membrane over this and fix to wall with double sided butyl...

    Fixing bay window concrete surround

We have concrete surrounding our bay window. I assume this was not an original feature and was put there to move water away from the house. As you can see it's seen better days. The part that is missing is from work we had done to replace a lead water pipe last year which goes into the cellar...

New water pipe. Wall looks damp

Thanks all for the info. @ree ... 2. I found them on the Water Safe website of approved contracters believe it or not 3. They only replaced a small part of the 15mm copper pipe, and connected to our existing pipe. 4. I assume I can just cut this off? 5. That's connecting to a limescale...

New water pipe. Wall looks damp

Here is a picture from further back. It's in the cellar and you can see where the old lead pipe comes in. @CBW we don't have a water meter fitted.

New water pipe. Wall looks damp

Recently had our lead pipe replaced on our Victorian terrace. The plumbers went in through our front garden, previous lead pipe went under the entry way. It's been a few weeks and with the heavy rain I've noticed the wall and cavity around the pipe is very wet. They didn't seal the pipe at...

    What's this pipe then?

Nice one thanks. Are these safe to cut/not in use?

    What's this pipe then?

I'm excavating this area for block paving where an outdoor toilet once was. Just stumbled upon this pipe next to the soil pipe. Is this (or was) a water or gas pipe?

Disconnecting gas oven. Not sure if this is a bayonet fitting...

Title says it all really. Bit nervous about messing with this as all the bayonet fittings I've seen don't look like this. Any advice would be appreciated!
