    Ballsed up my bathroom ceiling

From reading other posts, it seems I should've sprayed with water before scraping. Hmm.

    Ballsed up my bathroom ceiling

My house was built 2004. The bathroom ceiling had flaked, but the estate agent did a typical paint over to disguise it. It was ok for a couple years then started flaking again so I wanted to redo it, but have made a proper mess instead. I scraped all the loose paint until no more was coming...

    Handybits Easy Crypto

I can't really help with either, other to say that I don't think option B will work. Blowfish is a standard algorithm, but each program will have it's own file markers and suchlike. While theoretically possible to decrypt Blowfish files (assuming you know the key), it would take significant...

    Is this acceptable quality plastering?

Agreed. As usual, I underestimated the job before I started it.

    Is this acceptable quality plastering?

Amazing Lofts came to install loft storage and move my hatch yesterday. I'm happy with the former but not the latter. The render to cover the old hatch is very rough. I've been at it with 120 grit for two hours, and there are still pits and lines. It's going to need polyfiller and more sanding...

I thought WhatsApp was supposed to be secure

WhatsApp is secure in that it's end-to-end encrypted, meaning it's supposedly infeasible for anyone to evesdrop on your chats. There's nothing preventing random strangers from messaging you. (You may be thinking of BlackBerry Messenger.) You should report the number, then block it.

keep getting this screen. advice please

Since you say that you've moved, and this hasn't worked since then, I'd guess that the box was bumped during the move and a component has come loose. I'd start with opening the box, and unplugging and reseating the hard drive connections on the motherboard.

Is there now a limit on the number of Firefox bookmarks?

I'm on the same version of FF, and I have 13 bookmarks in my bookmark bar, and I added a new one to test without issue. Perhaps the bookmarks are being hidden behind a chevron?

    Unable to Block Spam Emails

Changing your password is unlikely to help. When sending an email at a program level, you can specify any sending email address. Using the same address for both the sender and recipient is a common spam technique because people are more likely to open something that looks like they sent. Not...

    Google chrome issue

So you're having problems running the installer, not actually using Chrome? Have you checked Task Manager to see whether any Chrome processes are running? It's possible the installer is launching, but not getting to the point where it paints the window. Have you tried running in safe mode? Do...

    low disk space

Windows keeps back-ups of the previous system files whenever it does an upgrade, in case it needs to roll back. If you've had the new version for about a week without issues, it's safe to clear the system files.

    Disappearing MS Office and Firefox

Sounds like some of the registry entries for those applications were broken/missing, although the files were fine. Reinstalling fixed the registry entries.

    Genuine?

If you're clicking the "Continue with Recommended Cookies" button, and the banner is still popping up on every page, it means that your tablet is preventing the cookie with your settings from being saved. On Chrome and Firefox (not sure about Safari), there is a button to the left of the...

    Genuine?

    1. Set your browser to delete all cookies on closure (it's more secure, and it prevents tracking) 2. Install an add-on to automatically accept cookie banners. Yes, it will install cookies from hundreds of companies, and they will track you on a single site for all of five minutes until you close...

    What Prep Needed Before Painting?

@sparkwright Finally got round to actually doing the wall today, and you were right. When I removed the light and plug covers, there were bits of old wallpaper stuck behind. Thanks for your help.

    What Prep Needed Before Painting?

Quite possibly. Other odd walls in the house were wallpapered, and just painted over the wallpaper without bothering to remove it first (I suspect by the estate agent). It's entirely possible the kitchen wall was papered, in a poor condition, and the estate agent made a half-hearted attempt at...

    What Prep Needed Before Painting?

Possibly, but like I say, it hasn't got any worse in years so I don't think the cause is still there. I'm not keen to dig up the plasterboard unless I have to.

    What Prep Needed Before Painting?

There is one wall in my kitchen with patches of bubbled, flaking paint. It looks like damp, except it's too high and inconsistent for rising damp, there is no pipework above for possible leaks, and it's far away from the boiler, stove, and kettle so don't suspect condensation. It also hasn't...
