I have managed to clear it by entering engineer mode and exiting a couple of times without touching the smoke alarm, didnt realise it would need replacing after a certain amount of time, as for risco ill never buy another one these again, it was an asap purchase through a company after an...

    Redundant cables in used backbox

The unused cables will be live for a week or so until the old ring is completely ripped out from consumer unit and new radials placed downstairs all unused cables in used or unused sockets will then be connected to earth and will mark then up as redundant for belt and braces

    Rsj install

It's all a bit irrelevant now as have realised that I won't be able to get the walls flush the way it is now so working with structural enginner on goal post design each side so I can have plenty of room for dot and dab and plaster for a flush wall

    Redundant cables in used backbox

Need some remedial wiring doing on a ring circuit for 4 bed house that does the whole house apart from kitchen, can redundant cables be left in backboxs that are still used for the new cables and sockets, the unused cables would be placed in connectors and marked up as redundant.

    Rsj install

No it was calculated with a 150mm end bearing, getting the engineer to come out and look at it as unhappy about the integrity of both sides of the wall

    Rsj install

The brick has been cut back to far so in theory if pad and bricks were taken out to floor and built back up cut at 150mm that would solve the issue?

    Rsj install

Hi, having a knockthrough gable end of house into extension, two 152x89 steels as specified by SE, supposed to have 150mm bearing but on side it is only 100 and slightly less in places due to uneven cutting of brick, im thinking this section of wall needs building back up with bricks cut to...

    Rsj fixing

Hopefully a 152 will do it, the load bearing wall coming out is the original side of house before extension thats currently there so there is a breeze, cavity and brick, no idea if this makes any difference

    Rsj fixing

Only a few cables to pass through one room to another, but as long as it can be lifted into the joists to some degree I'm not fussed by how much just gives me extra clearance for tall units as its tight currently. Thanks for the reply

    Rsj fixing

Knocking through kitchen into dining room and need to fit a 3m rsj(this is including overhang) Im hoping a 203mm rsj will suffice for this and will get a structural engineer to properly calculate this, question is if the joists are running the opposite way to the rsj can they be notched slightly...

It now seems to be working as it should with a sleep time between motion detecting, I guess it must take a while to reset. Thanks for the reply

    Loft insulation

Replacing loft insulation 100mm depth however the gap between my joists is 14" (355mm) and the combi cut stuff seems to be 380mm, what's the general thought in getting the oversize combi cut into the smaller gap, will compressing it slightly to get it in effect performance a lot? Will be laying...

    Risco agility 2

Hi my dining room PIR has started draining the 3v batterys completely within a month so looking at replacing it, seem to be able to get hold of one for circa £15 and the alarm company unused for the original install want £110 all in. I have the engineer code how hard it is it to learn in a new...
