    That's odd. So I turned the thermo up all the way. Switched the switch for CH, and now it goes on and off. I then go to turn in the HW, and that wont fire up the boiler...... Wtaf.......

    What do you suggest? Take the link out? Do you think that will allow the central heating to work as well as the hot water?

    Ok. Done that. Now the hot water turns on and off, but the central heating doesnt turn on. Its reversed the problem.

    The grey wire at the moment is in L to 3. If I move it from 3 to 4 both heating and hot water are on together and the switch on the control panel will not turn them off.

    It was in the 4th terminal, but I'm not sure about the other.

    ....just to add. I had a friend try and help me over the phone last night. We discovered that if you take the grey wire out of makes no difference to the central heating working- but we couldnt fathom out which port to connect it to to make the hot water switch work. Weve had the wiring diagrams...
