Bathroom underfloor heating - is this possible?

Our Bathroom has a concrete floor with underlay and carpet, we'd like to install electric underfloor heating but not raise the floor height too much, if at all. On that basis, we thought a karndean type flooring might work, certainly if combined with the foil type electric underfloor heating...

Gledhill boilermate 1 - boiler pump running all the time?

Turned up the thermostat on the boiler to just a notch under max and that seems to have done it, the boiler pump is now shutting off a few mins after the boiler switches off. That seems to be it all back to 100% operation! maybe I'll get another few years out of the system yet 8) Thanks.

Gledhill boilermate 1 - boiler pump running all the time?

Thanks Boilerman, I wondered about that as we turned the boiler down slightly around Christmas time as it was locking out - engineer came and looked at it but could find nothing wrong, but the lockout would only clear when the boiler thermostat clicked open again? Looking at the Boilermate 1...

Gledhill boilermate 1 - boiler pump running all the time?

System hasn't been running properly for a few months ago, I put this down to replacing two normal sized rads with a full height vertical rad and maybe the system couldn't manage the new heating demand. However, I realised last week the boiler pump wasn't running at all. Traced the problem to...

Safety devices? I've a stair gate and a cycling helmet, would they do?

240v portable generator - industrial socket to domestic?

Thanks, I'll probably make up an extension for the short term and consult my electrician about making something a bit more permanent like we had in the last house.

240v portable generator - industrial socket to domestic?

I have a honda petrol generator that in my last home was connected to the house circuit and could be used during power cuts - there was a manual switch next to the consumer unit that was used to switch over the circuit to the generator. The generator only has industrial type 240 v sockets...

Best product to bond an undermount composite sink to quartz

Anyone help with this, is it just a general bonding silicon, or are there specialist bonding products specifically for bonding composite to quartz? I've also been advised to build some form of wooden support under the rim of the sink to help keep the sink secure - any advice welcomed, thanks.

    Camray 3 efficiency?

Thanks, that's good to know, I'll probably use the money I'm saving to replace the heat store as I'm looking to add an air source heat pump and I need a second coil in the tank.

    Camray 3 efficiency?

P.s. it's an oil boiler - thought I'd mentioned this in the original post, looks like I forgot  does that make a difference?

    Camray 3 efficiency?

I was on the verge of changing out my camray 3 for a grant condensing boiler, but following it blowing the door open after a failed start, I had it serviced. The chap who serviced it said it wasn't really worth changing it out as the camray tested at 90.3% net efficiency and 85% gross. Also...

Camray 3, door blown open and boiler tripped

Just closing out this thread. I took the burner out for a look, no sign of any fuel leaks, the burner and combustion chamber were pretty clean, there was som carbon build up on the electrodes so gave them a good clean and bolted it back together. Ran fine till the chap arrived to service it...

Camray 3, door blown open and boiler tripped

Been running fine since I reset the lockout, heating engineer coming Monday. If the solenoid v/v was leaking fuel I'd probably smell the fuel - given it's heating a heatstore, it's probably firing up every 15 or 20 mins when the heating is on and it's as cold as it is, so any leaking fuel is...

Camray 3, door blown open and boiler tripped

Damn, was hoping it would last another few weeks till I get the vtx1521 installed. Thanks

Camray 3, door blown open and boiler tripped

I did think I heard a bang when we were having tea  The door clips are pretty tight and it needs a good pull to open it. What would cause is sort of pressure build up in the cabinet - a build up of soot causing some sort of blow back?

Camray 3, door blown open and boiler tripped

Just gone into my garage and realised the boiler has tripped and the cabinet door has blown open - at least that's what it looks like. The insulation around the boiler has been disturbed as well that suggests theres been some sort of pressure build up within the cabinet? I've reset it and its...

    15 to 21kw or 21 to 26kw boiler?

I should probably also have mentioned that the existing boiler is coupled to a Gledhill 250 litre heatstore - I'd guess this makes the sizing simpler?

    15 to 21kw or 21 to 26kw boiler?

Thanks for the reply, I know it's a 0.75 nozzle and looking in the manual that puts it at 23kw. I guess my question is, am I better to have the 21-26kw one and run it at 50% of it's range, or the 15-26kw one and run it at 75% of it's range? Which would give the better efficiency?

    15 to 21kw or 21 to 26kw boiler?

Looking to replace my oil fired Camray 3 70/90. Output of existing boiler is 20 to 26 kw. The Grant Vortex range have an ECO Utility model that has a range of 21 to 26kw, but they also have a Pro Utility that does 15 to 26kw. The boiler is in my garage and it powers a 250 litre heat store...
