Putting a second hand conservatory door into a window opening.

Thinking about it and wondering how difficult it might be. The kitchen is a single storey extension with a loft above. We are thinking of putting up two screw jacks to support the ceiling and then cutting a hole above the existing window, push a lintel through and gradually twist it - taking one...

Putting a second hand conservatory door into a window opening.

It does, but the window is smaller than the door. Will this suffice?

    Star Gazing for beginners

I live at the base of the Cambrian Mountains and this is a designated dark sky area. It is absolutely wonderful and I often sleep outdoors. I have never seen anything like it. Not even abroad on my travels.

Putting a second hand conservatory door into a window opening.

I am thinking of removing my lovely kitchen window and putting in an old sliding conservatory door which was on the outside of a conservatory. Should I put in a lintel? It's a one storey building but with a roof and an attic above it.

    I hate flies.

I've got a regular problem with flies when the cows are in the back field. I've tried everything but now have it down to a metal curtain on the main door and a lightweight one on the kitchen door, fly papers, yes, yes....I know they are awful but I think of them as temporary and they give me a...

    What have you bought today?

Thank you Conny. That was helpful and informative. Okay, I know what a plane is now - of course I do. My Dad had a manual one. I thought it would be a one size fits all. But telling me number 4 would be good for a smoothing plane was good too. I'll buy a manual one for starters and hopefully...

    What have you bought today?

I'm thinking.....no, contemplating......... buying a plane...or is it a planer. I've got about eight slabs of wood which I am orbital sanding to death. Somebody wise old sod said "You need to plane those". What is a plane? I wonder how I have got to my age without a plane, but then my orbital...

    What have you bought today?

I bought.......nothing. But I got "given" a gorgeous old pine wardrobe.....and a manky old footstool. Since lunchtime I have been de-reupholstering....washing the gorgeous tapestry cover (which has gone into a couple of holes as it was so dirty.....) taking the nails out and sanding it down with...

    Work surface trim.......Help!

Thanks JobAndKnock......I didn't even consider how absorbent it might be but yes, I can see that the area looks quite porous. I might have a bit of care and patience! (I've got a bag of it in my toolbox). Start-from-back-edge-and-leave-a-bit-of-an-overhang-on-both-edges......that's today's...

    Work surface trim.......Help!

Thanks for advice JobAndKnock. I did cut it to length with a pair of sharp scissors. It has a beige underside as you can see. It was quite easy to cut to length. Never having used a metal working file I'm a bit dubious about using one. Thanks very much for your advice though. Much appreciated...

    Work surface trim.......Help!

Thanks JobAndKnock....I think it must be heavy duty laminate. Okay, so contact adhesive is the way to go.....but what is a s flat, single cut file? Wouldn't a pair of sharp scissors do? I'm very neat.
