    Because that's the spec.

    Tubular latch unusual dimensions

I need to find a certifire rated tubular latch for an FD30 firedoor with maximum dimensions somewhat less than pretty much everywhere I can search online has. Max depth <64mm - that's OK. But max size of casing 19x15mm?? Most seem to be 21mm+ And the forend can't be larger than 57x26mm - again...

Fitted FD30 firedoor and top hinge is wrong

Just had the assessment sent from WarringtonFire and all good. Hinges in normal positions. Phew.

Fitted FD30 firedoor and top hinge is wrong

It seems weird - But I've re-read the spec several times to be sure. "Maximum 100mm from top of door to centre of top hinge" And the spec is only for FD30 :(

Fitted FD30 firedoor and top hinge is wrong

It's my property, but to be leased to the council for emergency housing provision. They're the ones who requested a firedoor be fitted (although none of my neighbours (all council stock) have any. But they apply different rules to leased properties. Don't know how rigorous an inspection would...

Fitted FD30 firedoor and top hinge is wrong

It will be tricky, maybe impossible to hide completely as the face is textured - if it was smooth easy, but that 3mm width will probably give me away.

Fitted FD30 firedoor and top hinge is wrong

The door spec definitely states top hinge: Max 100m from top of door to centre of top hinge, Max 300mm from bottom of door to centre of bottom hinge, max 1020mm from bottom of door to centre of middle hinge. My top hinge is cut 160mm from top.

Fitted FD30 firedoor and top hinge is wrong

Fitted the door without spotting the top hinge CENTRE needs to be within 100mm of top of door! Thinking of cutting a hardwood sliver to infill the cutouts. Anyone know if this will invalidate the door? Going to be tricky as the cutout extends 2mm beyond the intumescent strip recess so will...

    Full electrical rewire

Reading around a possible solution may be to employ someone to fit a new CU and multiple stub circuits as the expansion of an existing circuit isn't notifiable, except for the bathroom of course. Thoughts?

    Full electrical rewire

Then I certainly wouldn't hire you lol

    Full electrical rewire

Yeah - the LABC looked a bit of a dog's dinner which is why I discounted it. Although the cost of an EICR set against a 3-4k bill for a full rewire, is pretty trivial.

    Lol - no - I meant joists!

    Full electrical rewire

And fixing conduits, and back boxes, running cables through the rafters etc to each socket??? I imagine/hope that the line for most electricians would be connecting the cables up and obv installing the new CU. How is this likely to compare on cost with doing it all myself and using a NAPIT (if...

    Full electrical rewire

I'm moving into my uncle's old house which is an absolute ruin - pretty much needs everything doing - extension, new electrics, windows, heating system etc etc. I'm looking to save as money by doing as much as I can myself. I rewired my current pad from scratch just before Part P came in and it...

    Shed ceiling surface breaking up

So my shed which is brick built with flat concrete roof, has some material falling from the ceiling in the centre where the concrete has leaked. I reroofed it externally last year with two layers of felt which seems to have stopped the problem getting worse, but I'd like to try and remedy the...

    Suggestions for remedying

I considered that, but it won't work - you use a piece of timber in this way for one of two reasons. 1) To spread the impact of the hammer over a larger area, softening the pressure on an individual spot 2) To dampen the blow - i.e. spread out the force over a longer time as the wood will...

    Suggestions for remedying

I build a shed last year - flat roof. At the back I decided to fit a drip edge into a gutter. The beam the gutter was attached to has warped over the summer, lifting the gutter in the middle and pushing against the drip edge. The drip edges were nailed to the boards with long felt nails which...

    Reroofing an outbuilding

Yes - I was looking at torch on felt, although felt adhesive would be easier to use. My understanding is that I can use felt adhesive if I put down a single layer system as you'd use on a garden shed. But if I wanted to use one of the more durable two layer systems, I'd need to torch it?

    Reroofing an outbuilding

My rental shares an outbuilding with the neighbour - it's a flat concrete roof that has been leaking in the middle. On the neighbour's side the council recovered the roof with felt to seal it. I'm planning to do the same to my side. The roof slopes slightly to the front where it is channeled...
