Yeah I think it'll put it to 20.
10 is fine for me but perhaps not for the less nimble members of the household.
You've been very helpful - thanks. If you would like to nominate a charity (either here or on PM) I will make a donation.
Right.
So I did the codes as discussed.
I then set the alarm and waited for it to arm.
I then opened the door - double beeps almost immediately then it started the siren.
I think this has worked
Ok - so went outside - waited 1 min
Came back in - single beep starts when I open the door. It's been going for 1 min now.
This is what I think the problem is. That single beep just keeps going, it never sets the alarm off.
Yeah - so after the double beep if I wander into the hallway the PIR on the stairs sees me and sets it off (siren noise starts, if i don't enter the code quickly the whole thing kicks off)
Definitely set
If i just arm the system i get the single beep, then the double beep. Then it's armed. All good
My issue is, if I then open the door, the single beep starts, but the alarm doesn't go off - it just keeps the single beep going for ages
Ok - when setting for nightime I do the following:
alarm code - omit - 6 - set - set
this disables the upstairs detector and arms the system
do you want me to do this, or do the same but without quick set, ie
alarm code - omit - 6 - wait for double beeps to end
Yeah - I thought that is how it should work. I actually haven't messed with it at all, just for fear of mucking it all up!
And yes, I am free to take a look at it now
Thanks for the reply. To summarise, I would like the alarm to go off after the door is opened and the disarm code is not entered after a defined period of time.
Essentially this covers the scenario where someone forces the door and obtains entry to the house this way.
