It's been a busy week, so just got round to this. The first thing I tried was the continuity test, but my multimeter wasn't playing ball. Maybe it's not sensitive enough. Then I tried using my tone generator for tracing wires. I placed it on live and earth. Which worked in the kitchen but...

When I said I was looking how to find out, I meant I was googling how to test it. I'll get a continuity test done tomorrow. I've got the right gear to do it.

I added the extra earth cable, the buzz still persists. I'll try to find where that screw goes.

It is a metal faced switch, yes. And all connections are tight.

No dimmer, just a normal single switch.

I took the fitting apart to have a look , I don't see an earth cable, I see two brown and one blue. Live and neutral. Can I add an earth or is that most likely a big job? I'd better check all my light fittings.

No tingle, but I can feel the vibration from one of the arms.

There is a buzzing, it is hard to hear though. I use headphones and crank the volume up. The buzz only sounds when the light is turned on.
