    Dry ridge installed correctly?

Hello, I had a dry ridge fitted last November. I have just had some lads come round and reattach a bargeboard that had come loose and they have told me that the dry ridge has been fitted incorrectly. They say that the waterproof membrane isn't stuck down to the tiles correctly. They took a...

    ABS lock help

Hi John, I’ve attached a few photos of the front door and the bit that has come up out the lock. I’ve got a front door video camera and I’ve check back on footage and I can’t see anyone on the camera last night. It was fine when we came in about 10pm but when my wife went to work at 8:10am she...

    ABS lock help

And yes it is an ABS lock. The problem is I’ve got a back door with the same key. I guess I would need to replace both lock cylinders to get matching keys. Also I’m surprised at the existing lock because it seems to stick out a long way from the door. I thought that they should be short to stop...

    ABS lock help

Thanks John. I’ll have a look. It’s a cylinder and then a small metal bit that’s come out of the lock. The small metal bit looks like a small cylinder and it was on a very small spring inside. It’s like the front part before it reaches the lock pins. when I get back home I’ll take a few more...

    ABS lock help

Hello, My wife has tried to lock the door this morning and part of the cylinder has come loose. It’s the bit that guides the key and inside the lock is a spring and a very tiny metal cylinder. Is this repairable? How much is it likely to cost or is it easy to do myself? I've attached some...

    Motorised valve clicking

I tried the HW off wire which did look a little loose but no luck. I have popped down to screw fix and installed a new motorised head. All working now by the looks of it. I’ve even bought a new Honeywell wiring centre whilst I was there to sort out a right jumble of wires at some point! Thanks...

    Motorised valve clicking

Just whilst I’m asking questions what is the red gate valve for? Is it a bypass pipe? when I replaced the CH pump I wasn’t sure if the is valve was open or closed. I think it’s open now.

    Motorised valve clicking

Hello, I’ve had fun and games with my heating system this year (bought the house in June). I recently replaced the CH pump. Now I have a motorised valve that is clicking when the hot water is on. I knew something was wrong because the CH was coming on when it should just be the HW. Is it an...

    New thermostat install

I think you are right it’s missing off my diagram. I’ll have to go back and double check but after reviewing my photos it looks like there is a black wire coming from the cylinder stat into that same connection. Well spotted. Have I identified all the wiring correctly do you think ?

    New thermostat install

Thanks for this. I think I’ll have a go at this in a few weeks. Might as well get it nice and organised. Do you think my wiring diagram looks correct? I can easily identify the cylinder stat, motorised valve and CH pump wires because I can see where they go and come from so I’m confident they...

    New thermostat install

Hi all, I think I’ve identified all the wires in the heating wiring housing. Please could someone advise me if this looks correct? I know you can’t be definite without a multimeter (which I have) but I wanted to get a rough idea. I’ve still not decided on a Hive, Tado or a Nest! thanks in...

    New thermostat install

I’ve just taken off the cover (with the electrics isolated) and had a look at the wiring. Going to have to have a good look at which wire goes where lol. Knew it wouldn’t be straightforward haha Is there a better solution for labelling up these wires or a choc block that will separate them out...

    New thermostat install

Hi, Thank you for clarifying. I mean something like this in the diagram (sorry best I could find) just move the wire from the programmer (hive receiver) across rather than bridge. It looks straightforward...is this all that is required?? (I’ve found from experience whether it’s working in my...

    New thermostat install

I’ve just looked at the Hive instructions and it looks like I can replace the LP241 with the Hive receiver as more or less a direct replacement (just wiring up correctly) the wiring even looks like it corresponds to the Drayton set up. Then in the white box (with the yellow sticker on) I just...

    New thermostat install

Hi all, Just after a bit of advice about a hive or a nest install. I’ve currently got a Baxi solo 15 he boiler for CH and HW. I’ve got a Drayton LP241 controller near to the boiler and then a Corgi dial thermostat in the hallway. I’d like to update the controls to go with a hive or a nest but...

    Central heating help

Thabknyou for this detailed reply. Just gave it a good tap and it has worked! My question now is it a sign that it is on its way out? Or should it be fine now it is freed up? Thank you, Richard
