Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

Seeing as mine is from 2011, I'll have to open it up and have a look I think. Whilst wiring up the sensor takes longer, just feels more likely to last longer. Having it (control box) mounted to the front of the boiler sounds good.

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

I'm wondering if my boiler pcb has that port to connect it to? Will have to look tomorrow. Not sure I need the time signal, as I would set the time on the programmable room stat to sort that out, but maybe the vrc 470 needs the time?

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

I like it. Like selecting DHW priority, or feeding both water circuits via your switch / relay. You have clearly done your homework on all of this. Hats off to you.

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

Bargain! Is your outside sensor a 693 that wired to the vr65 or to the ebus directly?

A switch for compatibility. Nice. Ive asked if the one in Camberly can be posted. Fingers crossed!

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

Hmmm, interesting, Vaillant tech support told me my 2011 ecotec plus wouldn't work with VR66. Good call on the saved search idea. Thank you.

Must be searching wrong, I can't find any at the momen?

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

That's great, thank you for taking the time to explain it, I appreciate that. (If you don't already) youshould work for Vaillant. Right, let's find ebay... :)

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess the flow temp to radiators is based on the weather compensator (and it's settings) and the flow temp for charging DHW is from the boiler control knob then? Does the nest (s) link to the ebus at all then? I guess they just drive the zone valves with 240 V.

Vaillant heat only boiler + switched live thermostats + weather comp?

Hi notorious. Just read your thread. Interesting! :) I have a simlar (but smaller) boiler (418 ecotec plus) fitted in 2011. Id like to add weather comp, and this looks like you've done that? Please could I ask what you have on the ebus? I have not used it at all, I just have 240 v onto 2 x...

    Smart Thermostat and TRVs

Thank you, that's helpful. Battery life another consideration I suppose.

    Smart Thermostat and TRVs

Yes I thought that. The Vaillant TRVs seem too expensive though. :( Maybe just one of their room smart stats (that uses the eBus) and keep the regular TRVs in the rooms.

    Smart Thermostat and TRVs

Hello Woody. I've been looking at the Wiser kit also. What parts have you used? Do you find it needs resetting much, as I had heard that it loses connection to the trvs, and gives trouble. I like the idea of it talking to the boiler (Vaillant in my case) with open therm / ebus to run it at a...

Vaillant VR66 wiring control centre causing heating modulation woes?

That sounds good. In my situation, I would have the VR66 near the valves. Mine is an open vent boiler. Do I take it that the switch wiring in the motorised valves stays as it is then, whereby if either is powered up and is then open, there is a 230 V input to the boiler? I see how if the VR66...

Vaillant VR66 wiring control centre causing heating modulation woes?

The boiler power requirements change according to the situation of each of the TRVs, so that has always a bit of a difficulty to calculate and set that required output power hasn't it. Not sure what can be done about that?

Vaillant VR66 wiring control centre causing heating modulation woes?

I intended to use the VR66 (or similar). That is meant to link to DHW and CH motorised valves isn't it?

Vaillant VR66 wiring control centre causing heating modulation woes?

Sounds like I could do with getting mine to thinking it is in DHW mode then, that is just what I need!!!

Vaillant VR66 wiring control centre causing heating modulation woes?

That sounds exactly what mine does. I was really hoping that it would be different to this when being controlled using the ebus (not the 230 V input), by having a Vaillant thermostat / controller / wiring centre. I guess this is especially useful, when the weather is mild, and you only need a...
