    Stone Bath...

Doesn't seem like the right subsection for this, but then again, it doesn't fit in any of them - and it was a plumbing job to install, so.... I bought and installed a stone resin bath in my attic room a couple of years ago. A massive crack has appeared in the inside -- it appears to be a...

Best way to fill gap between skirting board and wall..

I'm at the stage where I think at least half of my house is built with decorators caulk. Would recommend the Brewers premium on over others.

    Freezing Condensate.

Thanks mate. I wasn't sold on the idea myself, hence the post... Didn't fancy all that mucking about either, tbh. It's already 32mm, but it has a long, horizontal section, which I don't imagine helps. It is freakishly cold out there.

    Ummm balls :(

I also had this problem, or something similar. It didn't come as a surprise, I wasn't left with any options. Moving the hatch would have been a massive faff. I simply broke the plastic parts of that cover the 'hinge' part. This mean that I could push the hatch up and remove it entirely when I...

    Freezing Condensate.

Hello all. I have an external condensate that freezes daily at the moment. I have had a look at installing condensate trace heating, but will pipe insulation work just as well? Any advice/methods on stopping the thing freezing, I would appreciate. Thanks. Lenny.

    Drilled through a water pipe

I caught a pipe last year. Replacing floorboards - helpfully, someone had painted the floorboards to show the position of the pipework underneath. Unhelpfully, when a new heating system was added, the installer didn't carry on the trend. I cursed myself for not checking. Although I did find...

Is Farrow & Ball Wall primer meant to be THIS thick?

Johnston's match F&B colours - get it from Brewer's. F&B Paint isn't that bad, and the colours are fantastic - but my lord, it's expensive. Johnstone's is a fraction of the price and the paint is much easier to apply - the colour variance is negligible.

Is Farrow & Ball Wall primer meant to be THIS thick?

Jesus, that's cottage cheese. No. It's not supposed to look like that. What on earth happened there?

Make sure you've allowed it to fully cure first, mind.

There's a number of things that could have caused this. If the paint itself is well adhered after the full curing time (do a scratch test) then I'd test one door. Take it off, clean and degrease, sand, clean, and apply another coat. Like I said, I always lay it off with a brush after rolling...

    Forgot the bloomin' gap.

My worry is, that the expansion of the wood will push against the UPVC frame - it is right against it. I think that could be significant as there's not much place for the frame to go.

    Forgot the bloomin' gap.

Nah, I meant cladding strictly in terms of putting one material atop another... It's actually 2 lengths of bull nose skirting (2 for each side, 4 in total).

    Forgot the bloomin' gap.

Hi All. Asking for a bit of advice (and feeling like a total donut). I put some pine cladding on the internal window recess with the idea of using oak veneer or painting to match the woodwork. The wood has been attached with adhesive. The problem is, that I didn't leave an expansion gap...

Yeah, that's not a good look.... on the plus side, it's a good colour you've chosen. So, what's the curing time of the paint you used? What paint is it? What surface did you paint over? With that finish, I'd would wait until it's fully cured then take the doors and handles off and sand them...
