Help - insulating a suspended floor

Thanks Akist. At first, I presumed the sloping of the ground would have meant a significant difference. However, now you say it, I think the difference may actually be far less and I will do some rough sums. After all, using blocks to level out might simplify the process further. One of those...

Help - insulating a suspended floor

Thanks BlueLoo - spanning the longest length was actually the suggestion of the cabin vendor, albeit only for the reason of being able to easily fasten down the floor boards which run the other way (don't ask me why). However, I've calculated the spans and it's plenty strong enough given they're...

Help - insulating a suspended floor

Hi DIY experts, calling for your collective wisdom. I am having a timber cabin installed at the end of our garden in the spring. The cabin suppliers will install the cabin itself. I will do the first fit, by constructing a suspended timber base and insulating it. I have designed the timber...

Wall in garden - coping not deep enough!

Thanks Johnny. Yes, in hindsight I would have had them render first, but it was a decision based on budget at the time. As they say, you learn from your mistakes. The builder could have also used a wider slab, so in part it’s a combination of issues. thanks again

Wall in garden - coping not deep enough!

Hi Johnny Couldn’t agree more - it’s a shame I only spotted it after the job was done. The steps are sloped and water runs off in the right direction, so at least that’s a plus. do you think I could get away with a stop bead below each step, and then a chamfer finish to meet the step above? I...

Wall in garden - coping not deep enough!

Ps, I will render right down to the ACO below it. There is a decent gap in behind the ACO itself, that’s not an issue.

    Membrane or no membrane?

Hi all I’ve seen mixed opinion on this. solid block wall, retaining soil. I will be covering in vertical batten and cladding with treated timber. should I membrane behind the batten? Objective is to protect the blockwork from any harsh weather, prevent mould growth etc. is yes - can I get...

    Flow & Return Temp issues

Given your most recent comment - as long as the rads stay warm, plenty of inhibitor, and it doesn’t cycle on/off I am just going to leave it. our heating engineer will come back after summer to carry out service. Then is probably a good time to bring this up and get it done properly? Is there...

    Flow & Return Temp issues

Quick update: decreasing the flow temp result - the return temp is now more of less equal to flow flow 65 Return 62 this can’t be efficient, but all rads are warm. So should I just stop being fussy and leave it until the next boiler service and engineer visit?

    Flow & Return Temp issues

Thanks pal. Reducing the flow temperature to me sounds counter-intuitive. The higher the flow temp, the less the difference with the return temp? I will try this right now. sorry a bit of a DIY question. What’s a WC control?

    Flow & Return Temp issues

Hi all. Newly signed up to this forum, but have searched extensively for information on this one. Logic Max combi 30 8 radiators, all nice & balanced with around 10-12 degrees drop 3 rads are vertical ‘designer’ style. All rads have TRVs, don’t have a ‘bypass’ Problem: (1) I can’t get the...
