    House slow to Heat Up

Thanks all for the advice. Did some BTU calcs last night and looks like the rads are significantly undersized, especially in hall/stairs/landing and the kitchen/conservatory. Will start off with a couple of new rads for the problem areas and get the system flushed through at the same time. I'm...

    House slow to Heat Up

What do you mean by a heat calc exactly? So, I should be able to get to a figure that I can then compare to the specified output of the boiler?

Just had a look at the manual - can't see any reference to adjusting the output

    House slow to Heat Up

Hoping that someone might have some ideas what is causing the slow heat-up of my house. Boiler is a Vaillant EcoTech Pro28 combi and is controlled by a Hive system, thermostat in a bedroom. Rad temp set on boiler to 75C If I switch the heating on at 3.00/4.00 when the house is at perhaps 16C...

    Radiator valve question

Ah, that would make sense. We have found a few cut corners in that area... On the list for a revamp in the next couple of years, so perhaps an extra jumper in that room until then! Cheers

    Radiator valve question

Thanks both. Lockshield is fully open and the pin goes in and springs back when pushed. I will have a go at rebalancing. This radiator would have been an addition when the house was extended, so guess it would make sense that it is the one not performing if the system isn't balanced.

    Radiator valve question

Hi. I have 1 radiator in my house with completely different valves to the rest. It doesn't run as hot as the rest of the radiators, which isn't ideal as it serves the biggest space. However, I can't work out how to adjust it, or even if it is possible without replacing a valve. Below is in the...

    Leaking lockshield valve

Thanks for the explanation. To be honest, that's what had confused me. The advice from Google suggested tightening the gland nut, but I couldn't see how that related to my valve. It seems there isn't one, so will get a new valve sorted. Thanks all

Sorry for the stupid question, but which part is the gland nut?

    Leaking lockshield valve

Got water dripping out of the lockshield valve on a towel rail. Only way to stop it is to fully close the valve, and so turn the radiator off. Anything I can try, or will it need a new valve? PXL_20210221_164830392 by Sam23900 posted 21 Feb 2021 at 4:50 PM
