Got water dripping out of the lockshield valve on a towel rail. Only way to stop it is to fully close the valve, and so turn the radiator off. Anything I can try, or will it need a new valve?

Is the water coming out round the spindle?

Sorry for the stupid question, but which part is the gland nut?

There's usually a male threaded piece (called a gland) which goes over the valve stem and screws into the body, with hexagon for tightening. Beneath it there is gland packing, tightening the gland compresses the packing on to the stem and stops leaks. But I can't see the hexagon for sure on your photo, so possibly it's a different type.

Thanks for the explanation. To be honest, that's what had confused me. The advice from Google suggested tightening the gland nut, but I couldn't see how that related to my valve. It seems there isn't one, so will get a new valve sorted. Thanks all
