usually checkatrade or more recently now niceic - but clearly I'm just unlucky, I suppose on the plus side it taught me alot about electrics now

I agree there isn't a purely electrical reason for an isolator, I think manufacturers only do this to limit their liability most likely but really its not needed - I only argued this point with that electrician as it was agreed prior to the start of the works that he would install it given the...

@JohnW2 you might find this amusing, I argued with that electrician about why he did not install an isolator for the bathroom fan despite him knowing the fan model/manual that specifically states it needs an isolator in their specification. in his argument he sent me a screenshot of a comment...

he could argue that he would want the money for the first fix, I'm not sure how to argue my way out of this. I was thinking of getting another electrician to inspect the first fix then report back.

I see, so I assume the same would apply in ceiling joists as they are covered with plasterboard isolating them.

I read somewhere that the clips need to be metal too, does this apply in this case ?

    cable zones

haven't paid yet but problem is I don't know how to challenge this as NICEIC wont do anything unless I have a written complaint and give the gy time to fix but we don't have time as other trades need to get in

its meant to be for an isolator switch for a ventilation fan in the room

its terrible, even more so when some members make it look like their membership with the NICEIC is there to protect you 'the customer'

    cable zones

whats even more annoying is NICEIC are useless as unless I go through the process they cant do anything, even if I complained to the electrician via message or whatsapp they wont get involved apparently unless its a written complaint - and they are supposed to ensure their certified sparks are...
