Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

Thanks, however my pump & MV's are in a v tight cupboard, and new boiler is going in garage on wall. Very easy access all round.

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

Apologies for revisiting this again, but it would be good to get a bit more advice: I've started to get quotes, on both a system and heat only boiler. The guy advocating the system boiler said that a pressurised radiator system is much more efficient (which I can understand) and he would do a...

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

Yes, keeping the small FE tank in the attic. I kinda think I'd like to get it all done at the same time.

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

Thanks to everyone,I really appreciate your advice. I'm going to get quotes for both retaining the CW storage tank in the attic, and converting to a pressurised HW storage cylinder in my airing cupboard. I'm leaning towards the pressurised cylinder. I have a Hive already fitted, and would like...

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

Thanks all, much appreciated! I'm going to go for a regular, heat only boiler, and perhaps later, convert to a pressurised HW cylinder, keeping the "primary circuit" vented. I now need to choose a bloody boiler! (Leaning towards a WB 30KW boiler)

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

So it's feasible to use a heat only boiler, with a vented system, and it could be changed later with a pressurised / unvented HW cylinder?

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

Thanks, sums it up nicely. I have an immerser in the HW tank, useful if the boiler is down. Whilst I'd like mains FW in upstairs bathrooms instead of tanked water it might not be worth the hassle, and cost. Daft question, I assume the radiators and the unvented HW cylinder are pressurised in a...

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

I don't necessarily want a pressurised system, however, I would like FW in the upstairs bathrooms, at same pressure at the HW, therefore combi or system boiler is the only way. But if it's too much hassle & nausea, I'll stick with an open vent system. I'm just trying to get opinions before I...

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

Alas, there's a subtle but important difference, converting to a system boiler from regular, means a pressurised system, and fairly major work, ditto conversion to a combi, and question mark over existing pipework being pressured.

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

The title for this is wrong, it should read "Combi v Regular Boiler.

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

Thanks all. The cylinder is well insulated, and seems to be in good condition, ditto the pipework which is 15mm and 20mm to bath. It's a difficult decision....

Combi v System for 4 bedroom house

I've read previous threads on this, both in here and elsewhere, but opinions seems to be varied. Could I ask for opinions on my specific circumstances: I've a 4 bedroom house, with bath and en-suite shower, currently serviced by a Potterton Promax FSB HE, 30Kw. It's given me problems over the...

    Potterton Promax 30HE FSB

I thought I'd share an experience I've had with this boiler, which in my opinion is a quite serious design flaw. I won't go into to it now, however the following pictures will be self-evident to the experienced central heating engineers on here. Needless to say, Baci/Potterton aren't interested...

    Decking Questions

Thanks. My fault for not being clearer. I'd only be using nail gun on wooden decking. Composite usually comes with it's own clamp arrangement. Which is also very expensive.... Ideally I'd like to hear from folk who have had composite for a while.

    Decking Questions

Thanks, I'm well used to using a compressor, therefore it's not really an issue. Not sure what second finish means? If I opt for wood I'd likely only use a nail gun for this job. Was hoping for more experiences with composite, as I'm completely undecided ...

    Decking Questions

Thanks for both replies. I actually have quite a large but mobile compressor on wheels, therefore compressed air isn't an issue. Theres a Makita compressed air nail gunnon Amazon for £89, but not sure if its heavy enough...

Evolution Mitre Saw : Is the clamp any good?

I have one of these. Absolutely no problem with it & it cuts 4 x 2 effortlessly. The clamp is just adequate in my humble, but I rarely use it. Was tempted to get the sliding saw, but it was just too big to be portable.

    Stains on Solid Wood Worktops

If it help, I installed solid wood worktops a couple of years ago. I used Danish oil, and re-treat it every year. Last year I had a few stains, so sanded the worktop down until the stain was gone, then gave the whole worktop a quick sand (very fine sandpaper) then re-treated again. Looks like...

    Decking Questions

Hello, about to embark on installing some decking - around 50m Square. I'd like views on wood v composite decking please? I've read up on all the pro's and cons for both, however there's nothing like personal experiences! Also, friend of mine had decking installed last year and the guy who...
