I'm from England, Electrician turned up today anyway and sorted it out. I was pretty much correct with my diagram.

    Outside light workshop confusion.

Hi, excuse my **** poor of a diagram. I have an electrician that has offered to wire my workshop up he is doing it for free, but I'm doing all the running of the wires and stuff. He calls in on me now and then and gives me instructions of what to do and brings me the bits I need. I keep...

    Running cable for electrician

You're correct, my experience in electrics goes as far as changing a fuse in a plug. I'm far too much of a worrier to mess with electrics, I probably wouldn't sleep at night if I did. I'm happy to run the cables as instructed by the electrician as it's a simple run from the loft space in the...

    Running cable for electrician

I thought that the moment I finished putting the 6mm T&E in. It was a spur of the moment thing I only had the floorboards up to see if it was possible and when It was thought I'd run a cable, so they wouldn't have to come up again. I asked the Electrician multiple times if it would be adequate...

    Running cable for electrician

Of course, it does. I can't answer your questions about circuit length and design current, as I don't have a bloody clue and will leave that to my electrician. All I can tell you is what I've been told. He is happy with the 6mm T&E I've put in, he is getting me the armoured cable 6mm 3core and...

    Running cable for electrician

Just had the electrician round, he is happy with what I've done. The T&E is only from the supply to a junction box approx 6 meters away where it will be joined with SWA which will run the rest of the route to the shed. He is going to supply the materials and is happy for me to do the graft...

    Running cable for electrician

Thanks, I will be sure to ask before I do anything else. I never thought I could get a cable to the consumer unit due to its position in the house, so always presumed when it comes to getting power to the shed it would come from the back of a socket. So yesterday I had a floorboard up out of...

    Running cable for electrician

Hi I've recently had a block shed built down the garden, possibly 25meters from the house and Consumer unit. I'm just wondering if it's possible to run the cable for the electrician and then let him do the rest. I've managed to get a 6mm T&E from under stairs, under the landing floorboards and...

    Switching tool systems

Can't go wrong with dewalt or Makita. I use Dewalt at work, and they take a lot of abuse and keep going and going. My personal tools are all Makita as I got a good deal on a big kit, and they have been brilliant.

    GRP Roof Help Please

Whilst not ideal It won't do any harm at all. As the poster above said your roof is made from the same material as bath tubs and boats, so it will be fine. Also, it looks like that is as much puddling as you will ever get as if it gets any deeper it will drain off the roof anyway.

    EPDM and stove flue

I did think about covering it in chippings. That is a shame though as I quite like the minimalistic look of just plain old epdm

    Carpal Tunnel

Sorry to hear that mate. My mum has had it twice one on her leg and another on the chest. Both times been dug out successfully. But there is always a risk it will return. My brother and I got severely sunburnt at a water park as kids. Worst pain I have ever felt in my life. I couldn't move...

    Carpal Tunnel

Another thing I'm guilty of is not wearing enough sun cream. I get burnt even during the winter and as a roofer I'm pretty much exposed to it all the time. Also have a history of skin cancer in the family.

    Carpal Tunnel

I do try to use my ppe as much as I can, but there are times when I forget or just lazyness. Ear defenders are a must for me, I can't stand coming home after angle grinding roof tiles with my ears ringing and a banging headache.

    Carpal Tunnel

I'm only 29 and this carpal tunnel is horrible. I feel silly bringing it up at work as I work with mostly older guys 60s and they all have problems themselves such as the tennis elbow. Just think they are thinking i'm just a wimp or attention seeking bringing it up. Even just typing this my...

    Carpal Tunnel

That's good to hear, If they decide to operate on me that will also be my first ever op. Quite looking forward to the time off work resting it. I know a guy that had the carpal tunnel op and went straight back to work without resting it. This caused the operation to fail, and he is back in the...

    Carpal Tunnel

It's amazing what they can do. That is funny though as those fingers are not really affected by carpal tunnel. It only affects half of the finger that is neighbouring the pinky
