    Flat roof

Looking at span table my 9 x 2 will be able to span to nearly 5m so 7 x 2 is really what i could of got away. I messed up basically forgetting about the slope on roof.

    Flat roof

My only concern bout cutting the joists at a slope are how perfect do they have to be as i would be doing it in situe and would it loose the strength? Span is 3.8m wall to wall and i used 9 x 2 c24 i think i should have the strength still if cut down on a slope.

    Flat roof

To the top of my joists am touching on 2.5m so really stuck for height hence why i was thinking of cutting joists to a slope as at the minute it’s flat

Do you have any tolerance on the 2.5m? I could use a 50mm firring strip on each joist but with 18mm osb then rubber my build will be 2.7m

    Flat roof

Can’t build it up as will be too far over 2.5m. 9 x 2 joists i think are over sized hence why i was thinking of cutting each joist down in situe. Plus i am wanting the ceiling on the internal to be flat.

The roof is going to be a flat roof but obvs need it at an angle so water runs off. Would i be able to plain the joists to an angle for the water to fall? I...

I will be framing the internal with wood with an air gap between the block and wood, will have insulation and vapour barrier and have weep vents in block work so air can circulate round and will be a cold roof.

167mm height though?? So i would just sit the wall plate then the joists on the back half of the lintel. What happens to the front part? I will get a drawing of my build up.

    Self build help needed

I will be needing to put a wooden wall plate round which will be 50mm to attach the beams to will i not? So in theory that would have to sit on the lintel then the joists on that. But am really tight on space. My roof won’t have that much load, as doing 18mm osb then rubber roof

I have started building a block built garden room. 6m x 3.8. I am struggling to find the correct lintel which needs to be a low profile. I have the door opening of 2.4m. I need to keep my build under 2.5m and to top of door from floor level will be 2201mm. I am having a step up to room to keep...

Does it matter if you have a 20-30mm bed of cement to lay the first row of blocks on?
