    Party wall insulation

Thanks. I think I’ve finalised plans with rockwool. Excuse the rudimentary drawing, but the external wall will have a VCL in term of foil, would I need to extend this into the party wall? I need to stand off the stud as the wall so so uneven. So rockwool will be between the studs.

    Party wall insulation

Interesting…. Should I stick with the same foil based PIR I’m using on the external wall or could I down-rate to wool or similar?

    Party wall insulation

Wool might be a good idea actually… only reason I discounted it was because I was fixing direct. In terms of cold pushing through from the external wall up the party wall, is this possible?

    Party wall insulation

1 all by the looks of it! I would be sealing the corner and to ceiling as much as I can, but it really is a question of if the moisture can evaporate from the neighbours heating their room, or if the inside of my party wall will be cold. Some heat from my side will penetrate through...

    Party wall insulation

In a solid block wall situation, when an adjoining external wall is being insulated, is it recommended to insulate the party wall? Could low external temperatures creep into the block up through the party wall? I was only going to sound insulate but may now PIR insulate instead to prevent any...

    Internal insulation no-fines wall

Sorry, I did mean internal side not leaf. Surely the moisture sucked by dabs has to go somewhere in the small void between the block and PIR foil?

    Internal insulation no-fines wall

I thought the general consensus was never to dab on an external wall (where there is no cavity). My blocks are extremely aerated so the dabs sucking above normal levels of moisture into the internal leaf is entirely possible

    Internal insulation no-fines wall

Installing insulation on no-fines wall which is neither plumb or level due to the softness of the block. I originally intended to foam celotex foil backed onto it, finishing with 12.5 normal plasterboard and twistfix through both layers into the block. The room is very small box room so...

Any idea what type of block this is?

These are houses in the road (not mine specifically) but should give an indication?

Any idea what type of block this is?

I think conderblock is a more dense, compacted aggregate isn’t it? These are quite big the pebbles

Any idea what type of block this is?

Yes I’ve looked at these but there isn’t many loated and mine certainly isn’t there.

Any idea what type of block this is?

I’ll do this tomorrow as I’m not sure there’s any benefit of pics in the dark!

Any idea what type of block this is?

I did think board adhesive but with it being no-fines, unless I scutch it level till the cows come home I may need the flexability of d&d. I've seen that IWI isn't appropriate for no-fines, but I'm unsure (if I seal/tighten the envelope properly) why this would be the case.

Any idea what type of block this is?

Thanks, does anyone have any idea how could I determine what build it is and wether it's a wimpey or not? I've contacted Building Control who said they have no idea as their records don't extend beyond 1989. It has all the hallmarks... no-fines, pebbledash exterior etc but I think I need to be...

Any idea what type of block this is?

As the block is so aerated, I wondered if one would be better than the other for holding power

Any idea what type of block this is?

Thanks for replies. In terms of internal insulation and as it’s density is very low, would d&d or adhesive foam be better?

Any idea what type of block this is?

It’s a mid terrace 1950s ish. I didn't realise what that type of house was, but I had heard of Boswell non-standard construction which was classed as defective… it appears Wimpey isn’t? Thanks

Any idea what type of block this is?

Hi, I’m currently internally insulating walls by PIR and plasterboard over the top (aluminium taped and PB staggered joins) I’ve started to remove the plaster from the brick (house is brick>cavity>block) to gain an inch or so. Can’t anyone tell me the name of this block type and/or its...
