    Faded Alarm Bell Box

The bell box on the front of my house is about 15 years old and has faded to a very off white. Not sure at this stage whether it is metal or plastic. Is it possible to paint this with a simple exterior paint? If so prefer to avoid spending £10 when very little paint is required. Any...

    Bike Storage

Sorry Breezer. They are standard bicycles and I'm looking for something for a couple of hunded £. I suspect a simple shed might be the easiest solution.

    Bike Storage

Looking to convert my garage in the spring but will need a place to store 4 bikes. What options are there to do this? A simple wooden shed or a bespoke version. Don't want anything over powering as garden isn't that large.

    Shower Bulkhead

Just had a new shower (built in rather than exposed) installed as part of my bathroom refit. Following the completion of the tiling I now have a problem. When installing the plastic bulkhead elbow to the outlet pipe it doesn't fit tight to the wall. The instruction manual states that threaded...

can we change to a combi?

Mikej2005 - as a matter of interest what boiler did you go for? Been thinking of doing the same but have concerns if combi will perform efficiently to provide enough water and heat a 4 bed detached for a family of four.

    Myson apollo on and off

Both pipes above the boiler are equally hot. Rads upstairs are warm apart from one but all downstairs all are cold.

    Myson apollo on and off

Experiancing the exact same problem on my Apollo. Boiler ignites for approx. a minute before shutting down for a short while, then kicks in and repeats the cycle. Tried bleeding the rads and pump but no improvement. Any help before getting the cheque book out would be much appreciated.

    Towel Radiator Valves

Thanks very much. So I can order standard (straight) 15 mm valves and adjust via a reducing olive? No need to search for valves with a 15mm x 10mm outlets then?

    Towel Radiator Valves

The current one's are angled valves but I'm replacing an ordinary radiator with a towel rail.

    Towel Radiator Valves

Can you clear up a simple query or two? Pipes come through floorboards into towel radiator. Which valves do I require straight or angled? Also, pipe is 10mm. Are there special valves out there or do they come supplied with a conversion option? Thanks in advance.

    Heated Towel Rails

Thanks for the quick replies. So it doesn't necessarily do what it says on the box? Any other advice on buying a towel rail?

    Heated Towel Rails

Looking round for a heated towel rail to complete my bathroom refit. The bathroom is 6ftx7ftx8ft which following the 'calculator' means I require an output of 1680 btu's (this seems quite but............) What mystifies me is a rail (450mm x 975mm) provides an output of 1000 btu's yet a...

    Boxing in bath

Just refitting my bathroom and want to tile where the bath panel would normally be fitted. What is the minimum thickness of ply to use as it's a tight squeeze especially when using 7mm tiles. I will also be boxing in wastes pipes, soil pipe etc. to be tiled over - minimum thickness of ply...

    Planning Enforcement

Thanks for the advice. The Council became involved when a neighbour to the rear of the property (which is being overlooked by the dormer extension) complained. You cannot see the dormer from the road. The Council upheld it's original decision and this was supported by an officer from the...

    Planning Enforcement

A close friend of mine has recently lost an appeal against the local authority's decision to insist that alterations are carried out to reduce the size of his loft conversion (the conversion has been built approx 2 feet too long). The Council have given him 6 months to put right. One option...
