Corrosion and a small leak in the pipe of a one pipe system. How bad is it, and how best to fix?

After moving a set of draws I've found a spot on my one pipe central heating flow that's rusted and leaking very slightly. I was planning to cover the spot in epoxy repair paste and hoping that stops further damage, but is that a good idea? How big of a job is it to fix this otherwise?

Worcester Boiler not firing after a drain and refill. Single pipe system.

I think it's called an open vent? There's a tank with a ballcock in the loft that's easily opened. When I bleed the radiators black stuff comes out, that hasn't happened before. I tried turning one of the taps under the boiler, and that was black water too. So possibly full of crap now? How...

Worcester Boiler not firing after a drain and refill. Single pipe system.

Do you mean the red circle in the image? I'm 99% sure he didnt touch them - the only thing he did turn was the red stopcock at the bottom, right, which is from the tank in the loft. The water is flowing - I can feel it and as of today it's lukewarm to the left of the LLH, but it's not flowing...

Worcester Boiler not firing after a drain and refill. Single pipe system.

Yes it's running. It's Grundfos UPS3. The manual says to set it to speed three and let it run for a while. My system is a Grundfos Pump on the load side of the LLH, being fed from the Worcster Greenstar Boiler. Then motorised valves feeding the single pipe CH system around the house and...

Worcester Boiler not firing after a drain and refill. Single pipe system.

Its Greenstar 8000.i THINK its supposed to auto vent. I've realised that the boiler is firing, and hot water is getting as far as my low loss header and then not going any further. The boiler then must shut off. The LLH is supposed to auto vent too.

Worcester Boiler not firing after a drain and refill. Single pipe system.

Any tips on flushing air out of the system? Should I leave everything running, including the grundfos pumps to circulate the water round or just let things settle?

Worcester Boiler not firing after a drain and refill. Single pipe system.

No it's really not good and really frustrating. I thought I had clearly explained the system to him. Good idea on the immersion heater. I have never used it and don't know how to, but it's also not wired in so I'd have to give that a go if I was feeling brave

Worcester Boiler not firing after a drain and refill. Single pipe system.

We had two rads taken out to do some insulation. The plumber drained the system, took the rads of and then capped them off. He didn't refill the system, and I don't think he realised that the boiler also fed the HW tank. As of this morning, the boiler won't fire and we have no HW. Having...

Balancing a one pipe system - possible? Or should all Lockshields be fully open.

Do you have just one pump? I have three. One to the right of the low loss header, flowing out of the boiler. One on the return central heating pipe, and one on the return hot water cylinder pipe. I have 20 rads in total spread across two floors, so I might need cp2 instead of one. I just...

Balancing a one pipe system - possible? Or should all Lockshields be fully open.

Your post gives me some hope I can get tjjs working better. What pump have you got? Mine is a grunfos pump, and I'm not sure if I should be using the constant pressure setting, which is designed for underfloor heating, or the standard constant speed

Balancing a one pipe system - possible? Or should all Lockshields be fully open.

I have poor flow through some of my radiators in a one pipe system. The actual pipe is blisteringly hot, and it's almost as hot on the return valve too. Some rads pump out heat, but most suffer from poor flow and the water isn't even getting to the lockshield return. A Plumber came out last...

Are my Grundfos pumps configured correctly? Old one pipe system, with 16 radiators powered by a 48kwh regular boiler. My bills are £800 a month.Help.

Thank you, you make a lot of sense. What sort of person or company would you look for to come in and help?

Are my Grundfos pumps configured correctly? Old one pipe system, with 16 radiators powered by a 48kwh regular boiler. My bills are £800 a month.Help.

The pump is Grundfos UPS3. I read online that there should be a 20c differential between the output valve and the return valve, so was measuring the first pump and the magnetic filter. I was getting 68c and 55c earlier using Constant Pressure mode 1 on the CH return pump, and constant speed 2...

Are my Grundfos pumps configured correctly? Old one pipe system, with 16 radiators powered by a 48kwh regular boiler. My bills are £800 a month.Help.

I did turn the pump down, but I noticed the water did not seem to be flowing into some of the radiators very well. The TRV valve side and top of the rad was hot, but the bottom and return lockshield was cool if not cold. Picture of the radiator in question attached. The actual pipe around the...

Are my Grundfos pumps configured correctly? Old one pipe system, with 16 radiators powered by a 48kwh regular boiler. My bills are £800 a month.Help.

Sorry I should have clarified. My bills are roughly 800, but that's gas and elec. They are roughly 50/50 in split. I can understand elec being high. We have two washing machines, a dryer and a dishwasher that run quite a lot because of messy children, along with an air pump that heats my home...

I've tried experimenting with closing off radiators, and the ones that are left on I really need. It's kitchen and bathrooms that are open. I also only run it for an hour or two a day. But because of the single pipe and huge boiler, it still costs a fortune anyway. My question was whether my...

How do I remove this old fashioned TRV?

It's removing the shroud I'm stuck on. Does it pull off? Screw off? There's nothing obvious for a spanner to grip on.
