Hot water cylinder jacket for 600mm diam cylinder?

Thanks for the replies folks. To pick up on a couple of points: Yes, the tank is pre insulated but has various metal connections which get hot to the touch. I’m keen to trap as much heat as possible which is why I’m going with the jacket idea - every little helps. I have lagged all the pipe...

Hot water cylinder jacket for 600mm diam cylinder?

Hi there, I’ve recently fitted a Joule Cyclone 250L short hot water cylinder so I can heat water using excess PV solar in the summer. As this will only heat when I’ve got spare solar I’m keen to avoid heat losses as much as possible but I can’t find a cylinder jacket for a 24” diam cylinder...

    Smart meter problem

I wouldn’t be fussed but without one I can’t get access to any “smart” tariffs (cheap rate overnight electricity) or get paid for the electricity I’m exporting back to the grid. It has quite a big financial impact to me so I’m going to keep plugging away…

    Smart meter problem

Thanks for your comments. I’ve escalated this with Octopus as far as I can. Ended up emailing the CEO directly. They do appear to be trying to help but all aspects of my problem seem to originate with Arqiva/DCC. They are both government appointed and will not communicate in any way with the...

    Smart meter problem

Hi, I am trying to get a new electric smart meter fitted but, after 6 months, am getting nowhere. Wondered if any of you have had similar issues and/or suggestions I may not have considered. To briefly outline the problem: I have an old SMETS1 meter which used to work but has now gone “dumb”. I...

Pre heating water into combi boiler?

Update: I contacted Worcester Bosch who advised that my particular model of combi wasn’t suitable for pre heated water. I’ve decided to go with a direct unvented cylinder plumbed in such a way that in summer when I have spare power I can bypass the combi and draw hot water from the cylinder and...

Pre heating water into combi boiler?

Thanks for all the replies. To answer a few questions: I can’t sell the excess back to the grid as, at the moment, I can’t get a new smart meter so no access to cheap overnight rates and no option to sell back to the grid. Still working on this one but 6 months of trying hasn’t got anywhere...

Pre heating water into combi boiler?

Hi Motorbiking, Thanks for coming back to me. I’ll have a think about it but not sure that’s going to work for me. Not much call for aircon in the summer up here in North Yorkshire and in the winter when I do need heating I don’t have a reliable surplus of solar power.

Pre heating water into combi boiler?

Hi, I have a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 35CDi combi boiler running on LPG. This works very well providing both hot water and central heating. I have recently installed a PV solar/battery system and expect to have more electrical power than I need for about 8 months of the year. I am looking at...
