    Scratch on Resin drive

Thanks, bit nervous about taking a wire brush to the resin in case it damages further - I've got a wire brush I use for cleaning my files and rasps but the wire is pretty thick and sturdy How about a metal washing up scourer?

Foil insulation loft hatch/draught proof house/skirting boards

I didn't notice it being so, but now I'm worried - will check it out, we have insulation between the joists which is the minimum recommended and we recently had the loft boarded but the boards were laid directly onto the joists instead of on risers...

Foil insulation loft hatch/draught proof house/skirting boards

Thanks, I've had a go with some cheap Chinese made weatherstrip found on amazon Stuffed some under the skirt using a wall scraper and already made a noticeable difference. Gap is lot less than I realised, max 2mm so think I can live without the silicone finish

Foil insulation loft hatch/draught proof house/skirting boards

Hi, I want to draught proof and insulate my hinged loft hatch - i've bought some foil insulation to stick on the inside of the hatch on the door that swings down... Novice needing advice! How to paint the wall "propperly"

I'm in no way an expert here but if the wallpaper looks like a good surface free of any lumps or whatever you could paint over it - but probably need to use Zinsser or similar first if you don't want the pattern to show through. It will probably have a different texture depending on the paper...

    Best time to stain decking

Problem is the decking doesn't get the sun and just doesn't seem to be drying... doesn't it need to be completely dry for oiling or staining? Will the wood likely rot if I leave it until spring next year?

    Garden office heating

Has anyone had any experience or advice using Thermawrap for insulation: https://www.toolstation.com/thermawrap-self-adhesive-shed-insulation/p69456 Would this work with the flexing timbers and would it need a breathable membrane before it? Then I could somehow put a boarding in front of it to...

    Garden office heating

Thanks - so if I have this right, idea would be to put breathable membrane first on timber tongue and groove walls. Then, put a vertical batten and a slatted section to affix Celotex 50mm insulation to the wall and allow it to move up and down as the timbers flex... Finally, instead of...

    Garden office heating

As we are getting into the winter months, I'm looking back at getting our cabin insulated - thanks for all the advice so far From what I have read, the best option I think would be to fix treated wooden battens to the top horizontal timber of the cabin, with slotted holes further down which...

    Silicone Render Long Term Upkeep

We had silicone render done recently on external insulation. Gets a bit dirty/dusty like anything, installers said you jet wash although the idea of this worries me somewhat - wouldn't want to dislodge anything and you're not supposed to lean anything heavy on the render in case you crush the...
