Hi, getting a lot of draughts coming from under the kickboards of our kitchen cabinets - was hoping to stop this and was looking at different options-

Rockwool - to stuff the void with, I've read it can be used by mice to nest in or allow moisture to collect and cause damp, mould and rot issues

Expanding foam - I guess this would run long all the cracks and pipes etc. I've never used this before

Any other tips or advice?

Thats Rockwool, but less itchy. Recommended.
Thanks! When installing, should it be stacked high to the top and fill the whole space or should i leave a gap near the top - just worried about damp, mould, moisture etc.

I took the kickboard off and there was a crazy amount of cold draught coming through. It was just concrete behind it and there appeared to be gaps in the wall althought the outside has had insulation and silicone added to the brick. I was reading some people saying it still needs a bit of circulation there, the house has airbricks also underneath it, but if I can just stop the draught entering the kitchen that would be good as its an open plan kitchen which goes through to living room etc.

...the house has airbricks also underneath it....

Which indicates that you have a ventilated void under the floor.

Draughts will come in through any gaps.

Kitchens often have multiple holes in the floor for pipes and cables

Kitchen fitters have little interest in anything hidden behind or under the cabinets.

If you can get at it, fill any holes in the wall. Sand and cement mortar resists damp and mice, but expanding foam is better than nothing.

Patch any holes in the floor. If you can lift the floorboard, pack the space between the joist and the wall with mineral wool. The Knauf product is dark brown, soft, and treated with Ecose to prevent it shedding irritant dust and fibres. It is also sold in stores as an own-brand, but look for Ecose on the wrapper.

Mineral wool is easy and effective because you can stuff it into irregular gaps. It does not rot or burn.
