urgent - fencing to keep out dogs?

Thanks all.. until I see it again and can be 100% sure of its breed, currently I'm 99% as it could be an American bully which isn't illegal - then I won't be reporting anything or using any material which would case harm to man or animal! We've now had a couple of people look and both are...

urgent - fencing to keep out dogs?

We need to fence off about 15ft in length and 2.5ft in height above the brick wall which is about 3ft at our lowest level but higher neighbour's side as their house is lower than ours. No idea who owns the wall off the top of my head. If we went for wire fencing what is the best type to use...

Gravelling front of house - step issue

Firstly, I'm not a DIYer but I'd like to tackle this job myself and save some money. We have an old Victorian terrace with a small front 'garden' which is laid with stone slabs, then a couple of stone 'steps' down to the pavement. It's got an acer in the area and I'll probably get a couple of...

Heavy oak shelf into victorian brick wall

Afternoon all, I've seen a few similar responses to my query but not exactly the answers I need. So if anyone can assist, I'd be most grateful - it's a straightforward query :-) Just bought two very heavy oak shelves which have come with heavy duty black steel brackets - 2 for each shelf...

    cement or mortar?

Thanks.. how should I prep the area underneath the stone slab as just parts of the old mortar have come away leaving a piece of solid mortar in the middle .. can I just patch it up around the existing mortar and hope the slab will 'stick'?

    cement or mortar?

Evening folks... quick question... Topping our brick wall we have some stone slabs, a few which have come away now due to loose mortar. What do I 'stick' these back with - cement or mortar and is the ready to use mortar any good? Thank you!

    Patch plastering for non-DIYer?

Evening all, Removing an area (1m2) of wallpaper where nextdoor had a leak from their bathroom (now fixed), has pulled with it a thin layer of old plaster. Is it possible for a couple of non-DIYers to repair this ourselves and if so instructions please? :) Many thanks

    Asbestos behind wallpaper?

Thanks both. Pic number 1 - probably damp where I had just washed it over to get rid of last lot of wallpaper and pic number 2, no it's the wall to the side of the chimney breast, some crackly old plaster. I'm just feeling inclined to get rid of all the paper and then put up some new thick...

    Asbestos behind wallpaper?

Recently had plastering (for damp) completed for bottom third of wall so wallpaper on rest of walls needs to come off. It's a textured paper wallpaper used most likely to cover up the uneven surface from previous old works (it's an old house 1900s). So happily stripping it off this afternoon...

    Which water butt?

Thanks all. I'll have to check the available space when we move in at the end of the month and factor in a butt when we have the guttering sorted out. We don't have a large garden at all but I'm a keen gardener with whatever space I have for veggies mainly, and with 9 or so potted David Austin...

Afternoon all, We need to get our guttering sorted out firstly however I'd like a get a water butt or two. Any recommendations for water butts, what I need to consider before buying, and where they should be placed? Without any DIY skills, is this something we could ask a trade to fit, and I...

    Still a newbie!

Afternoon all.. We're getting on (rephrase that - trades are getting on) with the works for our recent house purchase but I would like some advice about one particular project: Rear porch. Not sure who built it but it's been there for years - it's wooden porch with the UPVC door. The wooden...
