Yeh sorry I conflated 2 things in that comment - secondary circ seems fine - I was going along with the theory that there is cold water circulating thru the primary flow and return when the HW is off which is cooling the water.. and the primary flow def feels very cold

Yeh that’s the thing evo says it’s 30 degrees but there’s clearly hotter water in there ..

Pipework does feel cold…esp the pipes leading to heating coil - certainly below room temp. Wld have thought when hot water is off the heating coil pipes should be at least room temp..?

Yup that was what I thought was the leading issue to begin with - we had a secondary circ pump - but put that on a timer so ruled that one out..

Primary pipe work meaning the pipe work after the DHW valve? I’ve felt the pipework after the DHW valve while the heating has been on and it’s cool suggests the valve is working ok?

So as the coil cools it cools the water .. or something else like a fault? any thoughts ?

The temp still dropped! 55 to 32 overnight.. Suggests my cylinder isn’t working properly? Tho surely even if it wasnt you’d expect water to keep a lot more heat? Or the evohome hot water kit hasn’t been installed correctly and measurements are off? What should the next steps be do you think?

yeh the pipe was hot well after an hour of turning the hot water off. any advice on how to find out where is flowing.. wld like to think any leak wldve been picked up on by now after years of it being installed..

hmm ok - have had a plumber round to service the megaflo so would have thought something like that may have shown up?

so heta the tank, then turn off the cold feed? this is to distinguish if the problem is cylinder related or flow/leak related right?

theres nothing obvious... i read somewhere about water 'passing' in shower/tap mixers ... not sure i fully understand it but could be an issue? if we had a leak, given this has been plumbed this way for years, think we'd have found it by now//

it runs 10 inches vertically then maybe 15 inches horizontally before coming down the side of the cylinder to the floor where it runs off through the house and its hot all the way along.. i'll get it insulated properly this weekend which will help no doubt, but i fear there may be something...

oh apologies - you mean a valve in the secondary circulation system? ive put the pump on the secondary circulation system on a timer - and i feel no heat at all in that circulation system now which surely solves that issue.. does the hot water coming out of the pipe on the top of the megaflo...

I will lag those pipes for sure but surely that wouldnt account for sucha temp drop? that size temp drop suggests cold water is being drawn in? when you say valve on the return pipe sorry not sure what that means? Cheers John!
