I'm confused about junction box rules

Thank you :-) I hope he's not my electrician!! Thank you :-) It would probably be an overreaction just because of the junction box but I'd like my electrics checked anyway to make sure all of them are ok (not just to check this chap's work) but this has made me prioritise getting a check up...

    Question about paperwork

I really hope it doesn't come to me having to contact them. As I said in the other post, the electrician is a really nice chap and so I'd rather he and I sorted it between us but I really appreciate your support on this. If it gets to the point I have to contact NICEIC, I'll start another thread...

I'm confused about junction box rules

Thanks for assuming I'm telling the truth, JohnW2 I am. I'm not quite sure what the point of lying or omitting relevant information would be, given I wanted to check I was within my rights to ask the electrician to correct it, so I would need anyone reading my post to have an accurate...

    Question about paperwork

I'm a bit confused. Are you agreeing with Murdochcat that I should have had an electrical installation certificate (EIC) and a part p compliance document? Or are you saying I'd only get one of those depending on which scheme, if any, he's in? Thank you for saying about a link - I'll check if...

I'm confused about junction box rules

I didn't know that part of the regs at the time - I'm curious about electrics so know a bit but I'm not qualified in any way and I'm very far away from being an expert.

I'm confused about junction box rules

Thanks so much, Folks - I'm going to do as suggested and ask him to come back to sort it. I didn't want to apply the Karen make-up and wig if I'd got the wrong end of the stick because then I'd just look silly, so I much appreciate your help

I'm confused about junction box rules

Hiya, nope, there wasn't a junction box there before - he put it in. I didn't throw him out of the way to plaster before he left but the wooden frame was already in place, ready for the plasterboard.

I'm confused about junction box rules

Hiya, Thanks for reading this. I'm befuddled so would really appreciate some clarification from someone who knows the current electrical rules and regulations: the electrician I've just used has connected an outside light via an old style junction box. The junction box is in the ceiling of the...

How to wire a light switch so that the t and e (not just the light fitting) is disconnected from the lighting circuit when the switch is turned off?

Hiya, thanks for reading this. Please could someone tell me how one could connect up a light switch so that the twin and earth cable going to the light fitting is disconnected from the lighting circuit when the light switch is turned off?
